pacergirl's request

Please please please donate a dollar (or more) and spread the word to friends, relatives and ask them to spread the word to friend relatives and so on. Heartbeat International needs a serious grassroots effort to raise funds to save lives. Pretty simple really. Thanx all!!

Dear friends

Well, here I am finally home safe and well actually we never really know how "sound" I am ha ha... Anyway flights were great, the time in Florida was wonderful and the friendships I will hold dear to my heart for the rest of my life. I will be so happy to share the information and stories after I have a little nap. Very travel weary.
Tammie and Gary thank you for your wonderful thoughts and comments. I always look forward to hearing from you.

I am learning so much from you all

Hi Again, I want to say I am learning so much from you all and I am so grateful for finding this group. I wrote last night when I was up about my 2 week old Medtronic Adapta (rate responsing). I appreciate the coupld of feedbacks I already received. A sleep mode was set when I went in for my 1st check up. That was when my trouble with being wide awake at bedtime began. I am thinking I might need to have it turned off.........???

Also of all things I own a a 30 minute workout gy...

New Pacemaker

Hi Everyone! I am new to the group. I just had my pm impanted 2 weeks ago. It is a Medtronic Adapta. The reason for the impant was bradycardia and I also have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I am excited to have the pacer as this past year has been difficult due to a low heart rate and BP and all the things that go with that and trying to work.

I am eager to get my life back. I am having troubles getting to sleep at night. I am wide a wake when normally I would be sleeping. When...

First ICD Question: Pacing 70% of Time

Hi all: I am a "newbie" who is 62 and had compications from a heart infection and got an ICD on 9/3/09. First checkup yesterday I was told I am "pacing 70% of the time" and next visit "we will optimize so minimize pacing to improve battery life." I was told "pacing" was/is due to tachycardia - fast rhythm - and "your heart is returning pulse to normal on its own." Typically, my pulse is 60 to 64 and "dr" said the "pacer is usually set to about 60 and we will reset it to 40" OR maybe the othe...

Hello from Tampa

We are having a wonderful time!!! The only thing that would make it better was if more of you were here. And maybe the weather could be a bit cooler. Blake did a wonderful job planning this and it's been a pleasure getting to know him and his wife as well as the rest of the pacers.

The weekend started with cocktails around the pool last night. The weather was muggy but the company was terrific. The speakers this morning were simply outstanding!

After breakfast the Pacer Ch...

Cuba Anyone?

Hi everyone! Hope you are all well. I have been reading your helpful posts for the last couple of months and I thank you all for sharing your experiences. My best friend had an ICD implanted in April, and I am trying to educate myself in order to better understand, help, and support him. My question is about travel. For those of us who risk no legal repercussions by travelling to the beautiful island of Cuba, I was wondering if anyone on this message board is aware of how safe it is to travel to...

silly question

After all the reads of all the serious problems some have, I hate to even ask. But some of you guys said ask anything. So...why is it that when I get up first thing in the morning or after a nap, my pulse goes up to as high as 90. (I am paced at 70) when I am a little more active, the pulse goes down to 75 and even 70. Never lower. Is this normal or am I back wards?
thanks for any comments. Ann

increased instances of pvc's

I have had my dual chamber pacemaker for over 3 years now and about 18 months ago I started experiencing pvc's. They are increasing in frequency now and I experience them sometimes as much as 10 in one minute, but usually just 3-5 in a minute.
Does anyone have any advice about how I can change this?
I stopped drinking coffee completely and I rarely drink alcohol.

Some good news ...

After the cardiologist put me on Diovan for high blood pressure last week, I am doing much better this week, and even my headaches have not been so bad. It only took them 2 1/2 months and 2 hospital stays and 4 office visits to get things straightend out - LOL. But I feel much, much better, and I am pacing along like everybody else. :) I just need to heal up so I am not so sore and ichy at my site now. Thanks for all your support! I appreciate it.

fidelis lead

Three days since I got the fidelis leaqd removed and replaced with a Bi-V. I can already tell a huge difference, warm feet, feeling in finger tips. St Judes lead broke off when they tried to extract it so thats still up in the air but FDA is investigating. You make your choice with all the information you can gather and wish for the best. Oh; I did get the medtronic ICD and fidelis from them in the hospital. They didnt like it but they gave it to us. best of luck to everyone. I look at it like t...
