2 week follow up today

Well, I go in for my two week follow-up today. I plan to let my cardiologist and my electro-physiologist both know about this website and recommend that they tell people with and getting PM's or ICD's about it. Also, I can feel my PM when it starts beating for my heart, I presume that this is nor normal and will be asking them about that as well. I will let everyone know how things go.

Intimacy...

Has anyone ever felt a major SOB upon "getting busy"? I did this weekend and it gave me a scare. I mean, its not like I can check out my pulse rate in the middle of things.

I actually had to say..."I can't breathe very well" to my husband. Sorta kills the mood.

Hey...I don't know whether I should have posted this in "exercise & sports"...just seemed most applicable. LOL! My stamina upon exertion has really sucked since my implant in January of this year. I would really...

Figure of a GOD!!

I was feeling pretty good about myself this morning when my wife woke me saying, "God, it's time to get up." I have been working out for awhile now and felt that her calling me God meant that my working out was well....working out.

As we began our morning routine, I realized that with the exercise and diet changes I have made, my godly figure may be attributed to one or the other or both and I wanted to increase whichever was getting the compliments. Therefore, I asked her what she...

1 Year on!

Hi all! I havent posted on here in quite a while. Have been feeling quite well of late and trying to just get on with it. I do try and log on though to see how you all are.

Thursday 16/04/09 Will be my pacemaker's 1st birthday! I cant believe it has been a year, it feels like it has fled by, and also feels like its been longer sometimes, I suppose that is a good thing as it means I am used to it.
Still cant believe that I have a pacemaker sometimes, it was still very much a shock...

pain

I have had chest and left arm pain and irritation for less than a week straight. The pain is hard to describe but it just feels sort of almost numbing or dull. I had my pacemaker put in late last year. It has never done this before. Wondering if anyone had this happen. I have been so run down that I just feel like passing out all the time as of late.

New Medication

My cardio Dr gave me a new beta blocker med, Bystolic. Generic name is Nebivolol. It supposedly has less side effects than the current beta blockers and is new to the market.
Has anyone used it? How did it work?
I have a DR Medtronic implanted pacemaker and bradycardia. The beta blocker is to control my extra beats and help the blood flow through the heart.
Thanks for any feedback.

At least to my natural heart rate, that is. Tomorrow I’ll be having my third heart procedure in less than one month. My second device in 8 months, and hopefully my last until the battery dies.
This lifestyle of mine is getting pretty old and it&rsqu...

Check up was great.

Mary Anne pointed out that in my return from Vegas story i forgot to say how my PM check went. I was more concerned with the trip and bowling so that is the answer. My check up was great I had less episodes of heart rate drop and have felt great the entire 6 months. So my EP was very pleased he tells me he is more used to complaints than my all seems well. So I have no PM changes and another check up in 6 months. So far so good. BOWLRBOB

working with a ICD

Hello all,

I just got a ICD last Friday. This is my first one and so there are a million things running through my head about how life is going to be now. I was wondering if anybody here lives in Ca and has a defibrillator, that holds a commercial drivers license. I am terrified that I am going to lose my job because I may not pass the physical having this device in my chest. Thank you all so much for any help you may bring!

Back from Vegas

I told you my PM friends I would let you know when I got back from the bowling trip to Vegas. Got back Sunday and had a great time. It was an inexpensive trip as I had 5 of 6 nights rooms for free and some food as well. The bowling went OK but could have been better. But I made about $1300 back. The gambling was not as good this time but I won enough to come back with some cash. I did not lose it all. The week was hectic but fun. It's good to be home. I will be keeping an eye on you guys, so you...

Ironman Triathlon

Hi All
Was looking for any on info on sport, in particular if anyone had ever completed the Ironman with a pacemaker. I am sure numerous people have and just wanted some advice when I found this site, which I think is a great idea.
In Short I have completed 2 Ironman triathlons before the dual lead medtronic was installed in Nov 08, and am dead keen to do one again. The cardioligist says I should, so I am looking for advice on doing it and also training with a heartrate monitor.

re: Disappointment//

Thank all of you for your comments. It was not ment that negative. I am sorry when some people give it another interpretation. And it was not an attack. I realy think a good balanced diet is good for everybody, whatever the desease. There is a connection between healty food and deseases. This information is not from my cable, I have none, but based on statistics and figures. 10 years ago I heard from my damged heart. Technology was not that far, so no pm for my heart condition at that time. I st...

PM armpain 4months

Hi all, well I have had my PM 4months now. Had my settings changed 2weeks ago, they put it in passive mode. That helped with the heart beat in my throat, probleming I was having. My PM was put nearly in my armpit so they had already turned the movement censor off. My arm was doing so good ,pained only now and then if I moved a wrong way.I am left handed so my PM is on the right side,I know this sounds crazy but since the settings change 2 wks ago, my arm gets like a bad cramp in the upper part and...

5 Ways To DeStress

Hi Everyone...I found this article in The Canadian Living Magazine and thought it might be useful:

Stress can be brought on by a number of factors. Whether it's facing big changes at work or at home or dealing with day-to-day anxieties, we live in a world where stress has become a part of our quotidian lives. Identifying triggers and avoiding them whenever possible is the first step in battling stress but as the old saying goes, prevention is better than the cure. So, instead of waiti...
