send me good vibes

Hi Friends,

I know that this sounds really stupid in the light of so many problems that we all have in our lives.

I'm asking for you guys to send me good vibes as I travel tomorrow evening to Florida for Easter. I know that those of you reading this are thinking...she is crazy...sunshine...blue skies...vacation...

Here lies my problem. I am a real worrier when I travel by air away from my home. My family doesn't understand that I am anxious that something will...

One of the members asked some questions about the shock of an ICD while holding a baby or driving, etc. I am going to ask again because I would like to know too. Can some of them be so powerful that the baby could be dropped or you could wreck the car or cause an accident? It IS something to think about, huh? Thanks for the input.

Anyone Concerned About Giant Electrical Solar Flare Set To Fry Electronics Worldwide In 2012?

No; seriously. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but this is from the article on NASA's website about the last such event, in 1859. The next is predicted for 2012:

"Even more disconcerting, telegraph systems worldwide went haywire. Spark discharges shocked telegraph operators and set the telegraph paper on fire. Even when telegraphers disconnected the batteries powering the lines, aurora-induced electric currents in the wires still allowed messages to be transmitted.

File of Life

I live in South Carolina where we have what is called the "File of Life" It is given out by the fire department. You put a sticker on your front door that says 'File of Life". Then inside your house on the refrigerator is a plastic envelope that contains all your medical information: Name, Doctor, Family Contact, Medications, Surgeries, Medical Insurance etc. I also keep one in my car on the visor. I have a condo in Wisconsin and they have never heard of the "File of Life". When I went up...

Trying to Cope

Hi Everyone - I just joined because reading all these messages has made me feel a little better. My pm was installed 3 weeks ago today, and I'm doing okay physically, but really fighting depression, which is so unlike me. I basically felt fine, had no symptoms, until I passed out twice and then, in the hospital, my heart stopped for 8 seconds. So now I have a back up battery.

It's all a little too science-fictiony for me. I had no prior warning that anything was wrong. I am 60, walk,...

Almost 100%

Hello, fellow partial-bionics!

my roommate loves to joke around that every time i go in for another surgery, the EP and the cardiac surgeon stand around and say things like 'we have the technology.' 'we can rebuild her!' and '...i'm giving her everything she's got, cap'n!' wait, that last one might be out of context...

ANYway. i just had to thank you so much for the good thoughts! i am 7 days since my pocket revision, and things are good. i'm almost back to 100% -- still no...

Medtronic or Boston Scientific

In January I had a pacemaker implanted, and a month later I received a medical device id card from Medtronic. Then this week I received another medical device id card from Boston Scientific. Can someone clarify why I have cards from two different companies?

Another rainy day in Georgia

Well, I'm beginning to wonder if Georgia weeps in sympathy and timing with my heart......LOL.
Eversince my ablation, my rhythm/rate has been horrible. My right atrium is so "angry" that it's causing havoc to the entire southern region.
I seriously don't know how much of this I can take. I know the doc said that it would be 6-8 weeks for things to settle down, but I'm beginning to wonder if this last (4th) ablation did more harm than good. It sure seems like I'm starting back from groun...

ID bracelets or tags??

Do most people with PM's/CHF wear med alert bracelets? If so, where is the best place to buy them? I have seen some stylish ones online, but pretty expensive.

Thanks,

Hey!!! Sorry I haven't been on as much as I used to, I have sooo much make - up work to do. Anyway, here is a quote I JUST got. Lucky you!

"Dogs look up to you; cats look down on you; pigs treat you as an equal." - Winston Churchill

Yep. My sentiments exactly. I absolutely love Churchill! Best quotes EVA!! Anyway, I have raised almost $200 for Camp Odayin!! That's enough to send 7 kids to camp!! I just got a note saying that my cardio. appt. has been changed from June 15...

FLORIDA MAYHEM EVENT! aherm! social event.....

Hey guys!!!! How exciting! There are quite a few people who have expressed an interest in Blake’s social gathering in Florida in September!

I am so hoping to come!! (Finances permitting!) I am going to start saving.... and seeing what part-time work I can do - might ask George Clooney if he needs a Personal Assistant for a couple of months or even Keith Urban.... sorry Tracey!

It seems there is a strong feeling that 3 naughty pacer chicks may be sharing a room...

Still trying

How long does it take to get past the idea of having a PM installed? I had my PM installed on 3/30/09 so it is still pretty new, but I am no closer to accepting it. They are saying now that my pacer was set too sensitive because even if I laugh to hard, my pacer doesn't detect the heartbeat and creates another one causing me to be in arrhythmia almost all the time. Does it get easier to accept when it is set right?

PVCs With Pacemaker

Hi. I've had my pacemaker about 8 months now. Had very infrequent PVCs for years - maybe once or twice a year? Now I get them more often and a lot during the day for the last couple weeks.

I am going to my cardio in 2 weeks and will tell him about it. I do my "over the phone" pacemaker check in a week and I guess if anything is wrong, I will hear pronto.

The only med I am on is a 40 mg. cholestrol pill that I've been on for years and 5 mg. of Plendil generic (that I j...

has this happened to anyone else

Ok fellow friends I have a strange question. I had the strangest thing happen to me a little while ago and I have been afraid to tell anyone. So here it goes. I went out for the day with my 9 year old, kind of a mom and daughter day, although I am not suppose to drive. We were on our way back home and hopped in the care, I put the keys in the ignition and thats when the strange thing happened...... for the life of me I could not figure out how to start the car, this was not like my typical br...
