Hi---I just had a pm put in Tues 3-17-09. I am home & am experiencing deep muscle pain in my shoulder muscle & in upper & lower arm muscle---it comes and goes---when I have it, it is intense----need pain med---but when it goes away (without pain med) I am free of pain. The nurse thought it was probably from surgery itself, but if it doesn't go away or gets worse to check back. Could this be from the pacer, giving off impulses & causing pain?? Due to the fact the pain is intermittant (it come...

I decided to try one of the Brookstone Heart Rate Rings and have had it for a few days. I've put it through some tests and thought some of you would like to know what I found.
The good news is that it one of the most comfortable and easy to use units I've tried. It's basic accuracy is good when I test it against my precision ECG unit as long as I'm sitting still.
The bad news is that it has some serious shortcomings. Even when it is working correctly there is about a 30 sec...
Newbie daughter - what lies ahead
Hi everyone,
My Dad (68) collapsed one morning in January for about 30 seconds. He was taken into hospital for 2 days of tests but nothing was found.
Last Tuesday he had 4 'episodes' throughout the day; first a weakness, then about 10 seconds of unconsciousness (with his eyes open - I thought it was a stroke), then a collapse for about 30 seconds at which point we called his GP. We were going to wait to go to the ER until the next morning but he lost consciousness (not nor...

Hi
Had my 2nd battery check and given a printout. I do not understand the printout. Can anyone explain what it all means? I am still getting weak spells but all technicians know is that it is working when needed.

I've been pretty depressed today, I'm not sure why. It's been a beautiful day and I spent most of it on the seafront with my friends and their month-old baby daughter. But my heart has continued to skip and the PM doesn't seem to kick in as often as it should. While I was watching TV about an hour ago it skipped several times and I felt quite dizzy. My life since July last year has been pretty hellish, with the uncertainty surrounding my heart condition, as it's only recently been properly diagn...

Hi, I'm debbies son. I just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words about my mom. She will be sorely missed by everyone. She often talked about this site and how great everyone here was for her. Everyone who talked to her and helped her through everything that happened, your support of her is greatly appreciated. I truly thank every one of you for being there for her.

First, thanks to Electric Frank and JoelyM for their answersto my previous question. I have another from a couple of years ago actually. I was doing a telephone check and when I got to the part where you hold a magnet over the pacemaker, I heard a series of strange noises from the transmitter for a while, then it settled down to the normal. rapid pulse.
The technician said, do that over and hold the magnet still, you are moving it all over the place.
I did do it over, and the resul...

Hi Friends,
I have been going to the EP to get my PM adjusted as I am tired all the time. The EP said my PM was fine, working as it should.
Well last week I got some pretty heavy news, I have myelona.
I have made this posting to tell everyone that not everything that goes wrong is the fault of the PM. I was in great health until I got the PM so I just assumed that was the problem with my health. I hope this posting will be of help to other pacers.

Heart block?

If your heart is pacing 99% of the time Ventricular but only 2% atrial, dies that mean that you have 3rd degree heart block?
Also, I have read that if your natural heart rate is 50 or below, that is pretty low. Does that mean that if you pace at the above rate that your heart is beating to slow?
If so, why was it not upped to 60 minimum at my 1st check-up last week!
I am confused!!

Hi all, hope everyone's OK. It's been nearly a month since I had my PM fitted, and everything seems to be going well. I had a bit of a fright yesterday and my heart skipped a lot, but that could have been as a result of the adrenaline flowing through my veins!
The one thing that's really got on my nerves has been the pain around my scars. They were really itchy but on Loopy Lou's advice I've been rubbing Vitamin E cream on them, but now there's a sort of shooting pain through them ev...

I had sought help in getting information to ask my doctor at my scheduled appointment of March 18, 2008, I have an ICD since October 2008, on that date as I always do I called to make sure my appointment was still active to learn that the doctor that morning, a few min before I called changed my appointment to March 25, and ordered a ecco gram prior to seeing him that day...of course some members gave me questions to ask him, now apparently he him self wants more information, I did find out that...
