Still skipping

Hi again, I feel really bad for constantly asking questions but I really don't know as much as I'd like about my PM and what I can expect from it. I woke up this morning and my heart skipped several times in about 5 minutes. It wasn't 2 to 1 block which my cardiologist showed me on my ECG, it was more missing one beat in every 10. I was under the impression that the PM would erradicate all types of AV block? Is this likely to be fixed when I have my first pacemaker clinic on Friday?
Thanks...

Never ending problems!

Hi guys. I only just found this site after having lived with a PM for 13yrs! I'm 23 and have had 4 pacemakers in 13 yrs because of problems! My last one had to be changed because I had pacemaker syndrome and as a result put in a second lead as I only one. My body then rejected it and had to have emergency surgery to place it under the muscle instead. Now what has happened is that for some reason (why i dont know) even though they have fitted me with a 2 chamber PM they cant turn on the vent...

It isn't always your heart or PM

It happened again this evening. The first time it happened was last month. I had a scheduled PM/ICD check and an appointment with the cardio. The check went fine, no recordable events in the last 3 months. Everything else was normal for me, won't bore you with the details. Cardio appointment went fine, no med changes, BP and HR normal.

I was scheduled for an appointment with my EP about 10 days after the cardio appointment. A couple of days before my appointment with the...

Thanks to all my friends

Thanks for the encourgeing words you bestowed on me. Im kinda out of my funk mood. Its just that it is getting so hard to accept the fact that I cant work anymore and I think that is really setting in now. But I guess its time to face reality. Oh well. I wish it would quit raining, nothing to do and getting tired of tv. At least when I can go outside I can do things to take my mind off of things, or I can go fishing, cant wait to go golfing either.

3 days and counting

It will be this Friday that I have had my PM for six weeks. I am starting to give my left arm some needed exercise and light stretching. I stretched a little this morning and my left shoulder let me know it has not worked in a while. Has any others experienced shoulder pain when getting their left shoulder back into normal use? I am a golfer and will be starting to swing my clubs, albeit, slowly, next week and prior to that I thought it would be good to start slow and do some very gentle str...

getting pacemaker and running

Hi, I'm 48, male, have been running for over 2 years now. I currently am instructing a 1/2 marathon clinic. I started getting dizzy at the gym (never running) and decided to go for tests to determine the cause. Every time I went to the gym, 40 minutes or so into the workout I got dizzy and had to stop. The doctor sent me for stress tests with a cardiologist (I passed no problem) who then sent me for a tilt test. I failed the tilt test and during the test my heart stopped for over 15 seconds....

Survival

We are campers and go out in the boondocks. I had an ablation 2 yrs. ago and am now 100% dependent on my pacemaker. I would like to know how you can tell if you have enough resilency in your heart to survive in case of pacemaker failure until you can reach the hospital. I think everyone is different so who could answer this question for me specifically? Thanks in advance. DD

ER visit once again.

Well hello friends, I had a ER visit the other day out of no where I got chest pain I knew it was my pm right away acting funny sorta. So here is my question does anybody else get pain when pacing happens in the ventricles?
Anytime I got into PMT my ventricle pacing comes in and it hurt. The tech was able to turn down my hr so it won't go up as high so it does not hurt as bad. It took here 31/2 hrs to get settings to help me feel better. My sensing has to be so high b/c otherwise I get...

Colds and Flu

Are there any special things to watch for when you are getting what you think is a cold? Hubby has had sinus infection for 2 weeks so not sure what I'm coming down with. PM implant September 08. Thot I recalled someone saying need to see doc early on as can become more serious because my body has a foreign body in it. I don't want to over or under react. Thanks

Pain between shoulder blades

I have had a Metronix PM for almost a year and after four or five minutes of mild exercise I experience pain between shoulder blades and it will stay until I quit exercising then subside. I have passed a stress test and also a cat scan with the dye revealed a blockage which was removed and replaced with three stents but the pain is still there when I exercise. My Cardo is baffeled because we all thought unblocking the artery and the stents would fix it and it did not. Please offer any info yo...

store alarms

I set off the store alarm system when I walked in this nice gift store yesterday. As I was trying to leave it of course went off again. The cashier had me come back in to the front of the store (with everyone watching by this point) as I tried to explain to her that I just got a pacemaker last week. She did not believe me at first and one customer actually said "you look to young to have a pacemaker". Luckily they did believe my 12 year old daughter. I had stood directly in front of the dev...

BPM going below setting

I've just had my pm for a little over a week and it is set at 60/140. My problem was that my heart rate was dropping in to the 20s with me just walking around and it would cause me to pass out. I'm still dropping below 60 but I thought that the pm was supposed to keep that from happening. Does anyone know if this is normal? Does it take a while for your body to adjust? My blood pressure is also still going extremely low at times. I could use any advice since I'm new to this and do not real...

Anyone having tingles and numbness in feet since PM?

I had my pacemaker placed in December. I had to have an adenosine stress test in Feb. and since then I seem to be having a lot of tingles, going to sleep feeling and numbness in the feet, legs, arm and hands. Has anyone else had anything like this or do I have something else to worry about? The cardiologist said he has never heard of adenosine doing this. Just wondered if anyone else has had these symptoms. Thanks all!
