Follow up question

In my last posting I mentioned that I had an EnRythm pacemaker. I really don't understand what it's purpose is.
What would cause it to kick in. I know it is a good sign that it is only pacing at 18-20% But I guess I just don't understand the workings of it. I have tried to research the EnRythm but can't find any info on it. Everywhere I search leads me right back to this site. In my mind that says quite alot for this site.

Is it normal?

I have had my PM now for 7 weeks. I was wondering if any of you have had your PM site feel sore to the touch at 7 weeks post surgery. Mine is sore (feels bruised but doesn't look bruised) when even the lightest pressure is on it. I suppose that might be normal during recovery, but it didn't feel that way to begin with.

Other than that, I am going for my first data dump on Monday.

I yr. checkup

Hi everyone,

Ok so I just had my 1 year checkup on my pm. This may sound like a silly question but here it goes.
I have a Medronic EnRythm pm. I asked the doc what I was pacing at. I am pacing at between 18-20%. No episodes of PSVT or A-Fib. So I have to ask myself, did I really need the pm in the first place. What are your opinions on this?

still having problems

hello again all,
I saw my cardio on thurs....I dont know.. I feel like I too may be getting the runaround? I still am short of breath and have leg pain when I walk even short distance. I went for the doppler/duplex tests on the legs today- I was told arteries and veins look good. Cardio has me scheduled for stress test on the 17th and a complete pulmonary function test on the 11th.

Band festival!

I have a band festival tomorrow and am scared and excited @ the same time!! AHHH! My eyes hurt soo bad from tiredness (is that a word?) Anyway, I feel like such a nerd cause I have a 95% in Latin 1 and a 97% in Academic World History and Geography 1... Oh well! I'm a nerd and PROUD of it!! Just like the bionic thing. Well its been

6 months since my bypass and almost 5 months since my defib/pm insertion. The realization of not being able to go back to work is I guess finally sinking in and hitting pretty hard, I have been feeling a bit down for the last few days, yesterday went outside to pick up a few sticks off the ground and could not believe I got winded, I went back in the house and was so depressed thinking that this happened. Batteries

I didn't know batteries could interfere with my pacemaker. How about my watch battery. Should I get a watch that I have to wind up instead of one that uses batteries?
Also, at my last pacemaker check the tech mentioned that I might have to have a lead replaced. I heard that they literally take your heart out of your chest to remove old leads. Please tell me this isn't true. Removing leads leaves holes in your heart that the doctors have to repair and that's why they have to take your heart...

new second lead and problems

I had posted a message earlier regarding my new second lead. To clarify a little more: I only had one lead in the atrium and they added a second lead in the bottom chamber on Monday. The tech only told me they would have to change it while on the phone with the Dr. because he thought the reasons I was having the electric shock feeling after the new second lead was where he replaced it. i'm back

Just got my pm on Tuesday, am back to work today (sitting at the desk). Feeling pretty good, get a little dizzy now and then though. They set my pm at 60bpm up from 32! I am sore, but can deal with that ( sure like vicadon). How long does it take for the dizziness to get better?

Toprol XL

It appears that I'm in the wrong profession:
I'm going to start selling Toprol XL on the street.

Naps are Very Short Now....

I'm 4 wks post pm surgery, dual pacemaker for heart pauses.
My low is set for 60 BPM. I normally have very low blood pressure, esp while sleeping.
I notice when I do get tired and need a nap, I can only nap for 15 or 20 mins. Usually my naps would be at least 40 minutes.

Anyone else experience sleep being interupted at night or during naps since having a pm?

I have had a pacemaker for 5 years with no problems, but recently a close friend had a pacemaker implanted to control a low heart beat. During the procedure a wire meant for a blood vessel was implanted in his heart. He now faces a surgery to rectify the situation. What risks exist for my friend?

Second Lead Just Placed and having problems

Im 38 and had my first pm when I was 33 due to SVT. Had to ablations and then the pm. the battery was changed in December 08 and this past Monday they had to add a second lead to my bottom chamber. I'm a Newbie

I'm having a defib/pacemaker combo installed this coming Tuesday and have two questions.
My Doctor who is also a golfer like me, told me he could put the device on my left side (I'm right swinging) up a little higher than normal so as not to interfere with my swing. Is that the best location, golfers?
