re;reassurance
Thanks for the reply TraceyE. Isee the cardiologist in about 3 weeks so will mention everything to him then. I get the impression that most of the other people in the club are from U.S.A! I live in the north west of England and I feel really good belonging to this club where if I have any worries I can talk to people who understand. Have agood day everyone!

This is long but one of the best I have read.
STRESS
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.
"If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my righ t ar...

I want to thank you all for the wonderful comments. You are making my day go easier. I am so glad there is a place I can go to and talk to other people who can relate.
Here is a little back ground.
I was diagnosed with syncope last year. During my pregnancy I was fainting and they said it was the baby taking my sugar to eat more. Yeah that helped! Well the fainting spells didn't go away so I then went to a cardiologist. After a whole bunch of tests and nothing showed anything. I...

Hi guys,
Well, I have been poked, stuck and scanned. After I explained my what was happening the doc ordered some blood work, a CT scan and patted me on the shoulder. He checked my body pulses... all was good. No problems there. I will know what the CT scan shows in a day or two. He did explain what they were looking for and he really does not believe it is my heart. As soon as I know what the problem is I will be glad to share with you all. Thank you so much for your well wishes and concer...
reassurance
Had pacemaker inplanted 9 days ago for sss/wenckebach (not overly sure which yet)! Still getting used to it, it was all a bit of a rush to get me in and the procedure done after an abnormal result from a 24 hour e.c.g monitoring. I am having strong thudding feelings, especially at night, and it was making me really nervous, but since reading comments from others that they feel the same sensations I feel so much better! I have mine set at 50 so I think that's the reason

Another concerned question. I know I'll find out tomorrow after they put the pm in but kinda what to know what to expect now. If everything goes smoothy tomorrow when you thing I will be able to drive? When I had the loop recorded they stated 3 days. The anxiety is getting to me and lots of questions are going through my mind. Okay here is another one. Does anyone know what causes syncope? I am told my heart stops every so often for some seconds...what causes that....
Thanks again for...

Question one:
Pretty sure I'm the lone ranger out here on this one, but I'd thought it was worth a shot. Is there anyone out there in pacemaker land that plays violin? I'm practicing for an uncoming performance, and am having some issues. This is the first time I've actually played for long periods of time since my pacer implant. It'd be comforting to know that I'm not the only one out there, plus I've got some issues arising from playing that I've never had to deal with before until now. T...

Hi guys, my dr. office has tracked me down and set me an appt. It seems the cardiologist thinks that I may be developing another problem. :-O
I have not a clue as to what it could be and at this point I am not even going to try and guess. The appt. is for tomorrow at 1:15. I will take time from work to go.
I always find it rather odd that I leave the patients I care for to go see a dr. and become the patient. There I will be, dressed in my work scrubs... being cared for by med...

Hey fellow pacer girls and guys. I endend up in the ER yesterday due to my "mysterious symptoms". This was at the hospital more local (where I do not go for heart follow - ups) at 2 pm due to chest pains, pressure, and everything else. I had finally had enough, so I went to the nurse several times and the third time I went to the ER. They ran about 2 million blood tests (looks like I was shooting "illegal drugs" :)), an EKG, and chest X - Rays. Again, nothing was found, but at least the doctor t...

I thought I would ask if anyone knows how is it decided which side the PM is inserted. Mine is R but my Brothers is L. I had a bit of trouble with the seatbelt but not too bad now that the sorness is going.
I was told not to use a Gun! [ there goes my big game hunting career ]

Hello I'm a newbie here and was so glad to find this website. I was just told this morning that I go Friday for a pm. I am very scared about the recovery and how long I'll be out of work. I have a 7 month old at home and not sure how I'll be able to bond with him if I can't pick him up.
What can I expect for recovery? I have read many posts and getting scared as I keep reading. Please help to calm me down.
Thanks,
Jamie

New to the club and need some advice. I have had pacemaker since 1997 and then had repalcement 2005(symphony DR2550). Since then I have lots of issues relating to periods of extreme fatigue, anxiety and body twitches/tremors. I have also been getting zings of energy into my left armpit which have been quite painful. I have found that If I over do it I suffer for days after having to sleep for periods of 15 hours to recover and loose the debilitating tiredness and fuzzy brain. I have origin...

I like what I see so far here. Seems like you guys know what you are taking about. My cardiologist mentioned this site to me and I thought I'd check it out.
I do have one question. I'm thinking about changing doctors because I think I would feel more comfortable with a male doctor. Which is what prompts me to ask this question here. I just couldn't bring myself to ask her. I felt myself getting red just thinking about it and I could not ask. I left the office still with questions.I'm 55, do...

Hello people,
I would like to say that I miss chatting with Peter N. and I am sure many others do as well. He is feeling rather poorly lately and I thought he might like to see a few greetins from all of us.
For anyone who has not had a chance to know Peter N. He is the Distinguished gentleman in the first few pages of the photo gallery. He is funny, smart and a wonderful friend to not just me but many other people here.
So... Peter N. we miss you and we know you are...
You know you're wired when...
You have the perfect reason to show off your chest.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
