Seizure Activity?

Hello!

I posted yesterday about low blood pressure issues. I had an episode earlier that included some seizure-like activity. I was just staring off into space and my arms and hands got stiff and then began to tremble. It only lasted a few seconds according to my hubby, but I don't remember a thing. Could this be caused by low bp or some type of arrhythmia?

I have never experianced anything like this before and I am pretty concerned. I'm not too worried about abnormalitie...

To Worried Wife

The new lead from Medtronics I wrote about in my comment is the StarFix® OTW Model 4195.

It has worked well for me and might be worth a look if your husband continues to have problems.

Good Luck & God Bless

PM installed over clavical

Hi--
I got a PM on New Year's. The surgery was difficult. Instead of going under the clavical, it had to go over. I have not had my first check up yet. I have spent the last two days in ER. My left arm turned red if I would stand up or sit up. All untrasounds indicated no blockage. But it seems obvious it has to do with the veinous return. Luckily my arm doesn't swell.
It also pulls on the left side of my neck. Maybe that is because of the swelling and that will get better. Th...

New Here

Greetings to all from Maine:

I've been lurking on this site for the past 2 weeks and am so relieved to see that so many people have the same questions that I have had.

My story is one that reinforces the old saying: Trust your instincts.

Long story short: I've been misdiagnosed for over 10 years with "epilepsy" - - - when I've actually had malignant vasovagul syncope aka neurocardiogenic syncope.

I had questioned my neurologist for years regarding...

Heart skipping and jumping since pacemaker

Hello again,
Thank you for the responses, especially Angelie, very helpful. I can see this is a terrific site for new folks who are afraid and wondering if they are the only ones having problems. I am hoping that my heart will settle down in time. I did call my pacemaker clenic and they want me to come in for a check since it has only been 2 weeks since the implant.
Does anyone have experience flying- are the machines you walk through a problem? I fly next week and don't know if I s...

Oxygen to Brain

Know this sounds silly but am a tad concerned. I have always had my brain to rely on .. my whole life. Straight A's, magna cum laude, my own business where I have done business nationally and internationally, paper at conferences, 3 time author ... blah blah bah. Since my pm implant day after Thanksgiving I have had, for me, what I consider a slow recovery. Am much better but feel as if my energy is coming back very slowly. BUT .. I have no desire to use my brain .. I bought 5 books to re...

Nebivolol

Nebivolol (Bystolic) is a new beta blocker which was approved for use in the US about a year ago. One of its main benefits, compared to other beta blockers, is that you don't experience fatigue so much. Does anyone on the forum have any experience with Nebivolol? I am currently taking Atenolol. Thanks.

Jimmy and his last Beta Blocker! Just thought I share this again with the New Pacers!

A new brake-through was discovered in a small town in South Jersey.

One morning Jimmy woke up and was running late to work. It was his first day at his new job. With his mind set on impressing his boss he decided to wake up alittle early to get a head start. He took his shower and finished dressing up. Soon after dressing up he gathered his things and headed out to work. He got to his car and realized that he forgot to take his beta blocker. He quickly ran back into his house and gra...

My 17 year old son is having complications

Hi there,

My 17 year old son had a biventricular pacemaker implanted in October of 2008 in the epicardial area. It is not almost 4 months later and he is still experiencing pain over the pacemaker sight. We have been back to the doctors and had all the tests and they still tell us they cannot explain why he has pain and there is nothing that they can do...Does anyone or has anyone experienced anything like this?

Heart skipping and jumping after new pacemaker

Hi,
I am a new pacemaker club member. I got a pacemaker for Christmas this year- unexpected and not really wanted except I had no choice. I got to under go surgery twice as the first day, the upper lead didn't stay put. Back into surgery the next day and after some time they got it to stay. I guess that only happens in 1-5% of the patients. Lucky me. I am home now and recovering and my question to everyone who has gone through this is-
is it normal to have heart palpatations, skippe...

Is there a way that we can edit a post or a reply after the fact?

Just wondering,

discomfort

How long does the discomfort last after having a PM put in? It’s been about a month and the seatbelt still makes it feel sore as well as just a lite touch. I also saw a lot of people talking about not sleeping well, I haven’t slept well for a while either and thought it was from the beta-blocker. But it sounds like it could also be from the PM it self. Although it seams to be worse after they increased my metoprolo to 200mg a day. 100mg in the am and 100mg in the pm.

Questions

Hello to all of my paced friends!!! I hope this new year is finding everyone in good health so far!

I have a few questions and was wondering if any of you could offer some advice.

Here's a quick update...I have had my pacemaker for 1 year. About 6 wees ago, I had a complete sinus node ablation. This ablation left me dependant on my pacemaker.

I have been experiancing pain that I believe is associated with the pacemaker. I no longer have a sinus node, so the pa...

my long lost twin!

I spent the better part of the last two days with Loopy Lou and her family. Lucky me!!!!! She'll have to post the picture of us together, I managed not to get one. :o( Her family is so lovely!! Her husband is a riot and her kids are so sweet and polite.

And Loopy, well, she's my twin! We compared scars and pm lumps. We are both loud and silly and laugh all the time. We discovered we have the same music on our ipods and like the same cocktails. We both love big goofy dogs, preferabl...
