Daughter is getting a pacemaker soon.

Daughter will be told this Monday that she is getting a pacemaker.
She is 16 and in Varsity Sports.
I know this is the best but what is the recovery time.
She is very healthy but just has a low heart rate of 40 now for 4 yrs and the meds are not working anymore.
I see two weeks and am hoping it is true.

1st pacer check

Hello pacer friends,I just came home from my 1st pacemaker check and all is well! I am 100% reliant on it. I have a lot of time to go with "my friend" since it is new.I feel relieved.
All restrictions have been lifted so now its work as usual.I am thankful for each and every day! I am praying for all of you especially those who have not had such a good outcome and/or have other health issues besides.I will do the phone checks until my next pacer check in June.Thank God for our "little mirac...

Jokes

Since most of us (I think) are 60 or above I thought you may find a smile or two in some of these. If you are not 60, this will give you a hint of what you have to look forward to.

Q: What can a man do while his wife is going through menopause?

A: Keep busy. If you're handy with tools, you can finish the basement. When you are done you will have a place to live
Q: Someone has told me that menopause is mentioned in the Bible. Is that true? Where can it be found?

Digitek

I'm taking .125mg of digitek once a day for PSVT. My cardio wanted me to take it after a holter monitor recorded 8 episodes of SVT within a few days. I did not feel those episodes and the heart rate was never over 138-that's the vt rate. I have since heard and read here on this forum that once you take digitek, you can't stop taking it. Why exactly is that? if the doctors would do an ablation, could I stop taking it then?--i'm also confused about the VT rate..is the VT rate equal to the atrial H...

Another Joke

A very elderly couple were sitting in their favorite chairs not saying much to one another when He very unenthusiastically asked her, "whatever happened to our sexual relations?" She replied in a monotone voice "I don't know. I don't even think we got a Christmas card from them this year."

Resuming running @ age 57

Tomorrow will mark the 4 week mark since my Biotronic Cylos DR-T (dual chamber, rate responsive) was implanted. I have 2:1 AV block which resulted in "chronotropic insufficiency" which means my running performance went down the tubes because of getting winded easily. I am 57 and have only been running for 3 years.

I walked for 2 miles the day before my one week recheck and felt great. At my recheck, everything was checking out great and I was really feeling quite good. I figured that...

feeling better

I have only been on this site a few days and I look forward to seeing what’s new as soon as I get home from work. Is it common to have A-Fib (ranging from 39 to 170 bpm) with either Essential tremors or sleep apnea? I believe I read a couple of post’s about someone having a PM and being tested for sleep apnea. Unfortunately I have all three Essential tremors, sleep apnea and A-fib. I know much more about either the Essential tremors or sleep apnea than I do about A-fib with a PM. But this site...

BABY WITH PACEMAKER

Hi Just come across this site and was so nice to read and hear from people with pacemakers. My baby was diagnosed with CHB when I was pregnant with her, we were distraught and scared. She had a a pacemaker fitted when she was 5 days old. I forget she has got it as she is such a happy baby and her scars have healed so well, it was all very scary and stressful when she was first born but I wouldn't change her for the world. My worries are what prob;lems lie ahead for her with going going to scho...

Just joined the club :)

Hi everyone,

I just had my pacemaker put in a week ago. I'm amazed how quickly I've been healing and feeling better. I didn't take anything more than Tylenol for pain, and that was only for a couple days. This all came up rather fast. I've had a complete heart block since I was born which gives me low blood pressure and a low heart rate, but I never had any troubles with it. I took a premed at the dentist because of it, and recently the standards for pre meds are changing, so I h...

SVT

Has anyone had any luck with a natural treatment for SVT? Herbal supplements, dietary changes, anything like that? I've been getting episodes more frequently the last few months. My doc mentioned meds but it's not dangerous and doesn't bother me enough to go down that road yet, he didn't push it. Aside from the annoying feeling, the biggest problem is it keeps me from getting a good workout. I can still work out, but I can't push hard and work up a good sweat anymore because my hr gets too high...

2nd Pacer

Got my pacer replaced after 7 years on Dec 8th. Leads were good, so I don't have to endure that extra agony. A little sore at the implant site, and I can't sleep because I keep trying to go to my left side, and it hurts too much. Otherwise, it was not that bad of an experience. Dr. says I can go back to my recumbent trike in 2 weeks, and that I can use the treadmill for exercise. My advice to all - KEEP MOVING. It hurts, but keep moving the arm so you don't stiffen up. Get up and walk, don't lay...

Thanks so much for the advice on cartwheeling. I'm going to print it out and try it when I get home. I've never really had anyone show me how it's done. I think I understand it now. Yay!
Thanks as well to the others for your positive comments. I really wouldn't be where I am today without all of you. This site is wonderful.

Thanks

I appreciate everyone’s response, I don’t know much about pacemakers and you all have been very helpful. I never thought much about a PM until my Dr called me at work just a few days ago and told me I need one right away. This didn’t leave me much time to investigate anything. But I did find this site and I’m glad I did. Does anyone know if there is a link between A-Fib and Essential tremors? I started have both at about the same time and the meds are the same for both problems. It just seem odd...
