Ok, this is like my 4th post within 24 hours, but I don't care. Ok, first I would like to say that I do not appreciate the fact that on every website dedicated to congenital heart defects I've looked at do not refer to congenital heart block!!! Excuse me!? I belive that if they can put Ebstein's Anomoly (did I spell that right?) on the list, mine deserves a spot. And second, when I take my pulse, there are patches of slow beats and patches of fast beats. Is this normal?!?! It's like 2:30 A.M. so...

Thanks everyone for your comments/advice! Pacepal-- that Orthoinfo site is great! It really explained my problem well and how to deal with it. I've saved it in my favorites file for future reference. Janet

I had my pacer friend read last week. All is well The only concern was my rate drops are still high. Over 500 per 6 month reading. But the good news is I almost never know when the rate drop kicks in and in the last 6 months never had a passout or even a dizzy spell. So I am good to go for another 6 months. No changes in programing nessecerry. The on the 29th I celebrated my 3rd. birthday with my pacer friend. My wife said she was so glad I got over the terrible 2's. But I think I will be just a...

Hey guys! How's it goin'? Anyway, just wanted to wish you all a happy Halloween, even though I'll be spending mine at a FOOTBALL GAME, but it'll be worth cause we're going to WIN!!! It's my school against my dad's school (where he teaches), so I'm not going to let it go. After the game, I'm watching all the scary movies I can stand! Oh yeah, after school I'm going to my boyfriend's house and watching Young Frankenstein!!! That movie is the BEAST! Hope we scare a lot of people with our AWESOMENES...

Found this today. The study is a little old (March 08), but some of you may not have heard about it.
The study is a little small, but compelling. It looks so promising I hope they do a 1000 patient study soon. In the mean time, it appears that fish oil is good for your arrhythmias!

I am a new PM/ICD recipient. 4 weeks on the 31st. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary except that the skin over the device always appears warm to the touch. I was glad to find the PM Club, where there are others who are experiencing the same thing. I'm amazed to read the messages and hear what others are experiencing, Later.

Dear Esa,
Thanks for the kind greeting. I wish a nice fall to all of you pacers out there like myself! Happy Halloween, Kevin
Another newbie!
After a whirl wind month, I received a dual chamber rate responsive pacemaker last week. It seemed to happen so fast and now I'm not sure what to expect for recovery.
The last few years have been crazy...at age 45 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug. 06, went through bilateral mastectomy and 6 months of chemo.
Now, this pacemaker. I have learned alot about cancer but don't know about pacemakers. I feel better but still have episodes of lightheadedness and fatigue...

Hello! I am happy to report that my doctor's appointment yesterday went well. After 2 failed sinus node modifications and an ablation for a SNRT, my doctor has decided that a complete sinus node ablation is the only thing left to do. We have exhausted all meds to control my tachy and he feels that this will take care of it once and for all.
I am a little apprehensive about having my sinus node totally wiped out and being 100% dependant on my pacemaker. I know that there are several of you o...

Hi folks,
I'm getting my 3rd PM (coated 2 lead) in about 2 weeks. You may recall my other 2 implants had to be removed because of either infection or allergic reaction. It's still unknown what the true cause of the inflammation and erosion was.
In case my problem was an allergy to titanium, the new one will be coated in a hypoallergenic material (PTFE?). So that's 1 big worry out of the way.
In case my problem was bacterial colonization, the the surgery wil...

Ela Ovatio DR 6550 ICD
Hi Everyone,
I have had my current ICD for about a year. Last time I went for an interrogation it showed 69 arrhythmias in a 3 month period and it was pacing 8% of the time. I went in today and had it read. It showed no pacing and no arrhythmias.I have not read about any problems with the ICD model or maker. Does it seem right that after 8 years of cardiac problems, 5 shocks and hundreds of arrhythmias that suddenly all is well with my heart? My cardiologist didn't seem concerned and...

while reading a comment about frozen shoulders the subject of bra straps came up and its a subject i would like to discuss. has anyone else had problems with bra straps rubbing and causing a problem with the incision site . they dont discuss with you when your in hospital but i have had a real problem with mine. i think the bigger the bust the worst it is as the weight of your boobs pulls on the strap and it puts more pressure on your chest ... i know you can buy comfort straps but they see...

Hi, this is a very minor kinda silly question but do you know if i can use a jacuzzi? I am going away in November and know that the room we are staying in has a bath with a jacuzzi in.
I'm not sure about things like that (and hot tubs etc) and if they affect pm's (i have a dual lead)
Thanks
Louise,x

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
