new to me

Hi

I would just like to thank all the kind people who responded to my very first letter a few days ago.I am about to be fitted with my first pace maker in under two weeks and just being able to know you are not alone and can talk to people who really understand is brilliant.

I understand so much more about the procedure and what to expect and i would be a liar if i said I wasnt scared but I am armed with a lot more knowledge wh...

the pulse is came back!

Hi Everyone,
I have a PM SIGMA SVDD 303 for about 6 month, and I am 100% depend on it. today when I was at the PM clinic, the technician told me that she can see a good Sinus pulse (I guess for my lower part of the heart), I asked how long was like that, she said we dont know. I asked if my PM is on demand why my heart has been pased for more than 99% of the time, she said because it wont let your pulse get through. I am looking at my ECG right now and my pulses look much better than what t...

Impact of stress

Hi again - I'm the new battery-operated trumpet player in the group. You might get tired of hearing from me. My wife picks at me and says I've been jabbering like a magpie since I can talk without gasping for air following the pacemaker implant less than a week ago.

I work as a senior public relations advisor for the Army. It's a stressful job normally, but with the Army conducting operations in an unpopular war, it's really been tough. The workload and expectations can be unrea...

Amiodarone and Satin Cholesterol pills.

About 5 years ago, my General Practitioner changed my Zocor 10Mg cholesterol pill for a Lipitor 10mg. and it took me a while to realize that I had diarrhea more and more often, and had muscle cramps and joint pains. On a few special occasions, I took Imodium to control the diarrhea and it was successful. One day, before a sport tournament that I was participating in, I took half an Imodium and for the next 20 hours, I had belly cramps and couldn...

New kid on the block

Well, I'm not really a kid but I did have my first pacemaker implanted this week. I had been struggling with shortness of breath and extreme fatigue for months but doctors here in my hometown in Louisiana didn't give much consideration to recurring problems with a heart rate dipping into the low-mid 30's.

I went to the Texas Med Ctr in Houston and they implanted a dual chamber, rate-responsive device made by medtronics. The model name is Adapta.

I am feeling much better b...

Why do people want to pop our postive bubble

My father Kenneth was admitted to A&E early June and fitted with a pacemaker. At the end of July was admitted into hospital again and diagnosed with a extensive left temporel inhomogeneous - high grade glioma cancer in the brain.

At first we were all shocked but agreed to be a very happy family to spend as much time together and to find as many alternative therapies. ie Essiac Tea, Coral Calcium C10 and Oxy-Element. I have started praying and have been trying to faith heal, which s...

Jolt in chest question

Hi- I'm 3 months into a dual lead Medronic Avanta PM for Bradycarida, low heart beat. Not a defib. Its a demand PM set at 60 bpm at the low and 175 at the high.
Recently while reading in bed I had a jolt to the chest similar to a punch without the pain. 2 hours later another one with less impact and then one more again with less impact. It then stopped.
There were no other symptoms or anything like a heart attack.
A call to my cardio dr resulted in a appointment next week but the...

DO'S AND DON'TS

Where do I go to find out what I can and cannot do since I now have a pacemaker. Is it safe to ride on a lawnmower/garden tractor. How safe is a cell phone or a mircowave. Where do I find a list that tells me these things.

I posted a message regarding fishing on charter boats with radar units. I see that there have been two comments and 75 reads. How do I find out what the comments are. I'm new on board so I need your help. Thanks

I've checked the message board almost daily and see nothing relating to my question. Is there another area I go to to see the comments?

MY NEW PACE MAKER ---

MY KNEW PACE MAKER --- THANKS TO ALL!

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions - you all have really eased my mind so much. I had my first visit with my Cardio guy who said everything looks wonderful. My pacemaker is working at 20 percent, and I am healing wonderfully. I only have a few concerns and that is my blood pressure. At his office it was 149/90 he thinks it was because I was a little anxious - and he is more than likely corre...

Pericarditis...For the third time

Hello everyone!
I would like to ask all of you if you have ever gotten pericarditis? I've had my pacer for a year and a half and in the last 9 months I have gotten pericarditis three times. Even the doctors say this is very uncommon but I can't find anyone to answer me why I keep getting it. I go to a good team of doctors (Cleve Clinic) but I feel sometimes my cardiologist doesn't answer my questions and when he does I can't understand his forgien language, but I do think he is a very go...

Rate response and trucking

This past week I finally went back to work as an over the road truck driver after having my pm implanted June 11. A few weeks ago the pm clinic turned on my rate response. At the time I never gave it any thought but this week I learned something about it. There were a few times this week when I would feel a bit odd for no reason and notice that my pulse was faster than it should be. After about the third time I started to notice that it seemed to be happening as the result of riding on a rough s...
