PM and SLEEP

Has anyone had trouble sleeping since getting their PM. I used to sleep soundly for about 7 hours and since PM I sometimes sleep only 3-4 hours a night. My PM is for Bradicardia with a min rate of 60 bpm. I had a slow rate for many years and routinely was 30-40 BPM while resting. I thinking about having my Cardioligst adjust to between 40-50 BPM at night. I had my PM for about 10 month.

Any thoughts on this.
Thanks,

EMF - Hybrid Cars

As a recent recipient of a two lead PC, I wanted to find out whether I can continue to drive my Toyota Camry Hybrid due to potential EMF exposure. I found some information on an auto-related blog:

http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1775e1/2

As per this blog, measurements made in Lexus GS450h hybrid indicated an EMF of 110 mG+. I don't know whether this is strong enough to affect PM operation. Also EMF field the driver is exposed to in a hybrid, depends on the...

first pacemaker

Hello, my father has just had his first pacemaker fitted 4 weeks ago at the age of 76, all i know about it is its a 3 wire type and has a combined defribrillator, the problem is that he actually now feels worse, he has been back and had it adjusted but still feels worse than before he had it fitted, my question is, is this normal, are pacemakers complex to set up, his doctor has mentioned he may have to switcht it off, has anyone else experianced this kind of problem, our family are obviously ve...

ICD Repositioning

Hi There - I wrote in several weeks ago about a problem with my defibrillator. As it turns out, it is not infected, but has come out of the subpectoral pocket and is pushing through and a point of it is quite clearly just under my skin. It is causing me a lot of pain and numbness in my arm. I went to see my EP and since it is not infected, her response to me was to "deal with it" until it is ready to be replaced in approx. a year or so. I was quite upset with this response and don't know wh...

Battery running low

A friend of mine is due for a new pm in Sept/08. She has been short of breath for some months and has been checked out. Supposedly she is ok. Well, I was wondering if there is a possibility that when your pm battery is reaching the end of it's life, if it can cause any problems, like sob. Could the pm not be functioning as well as it should? These may be dumb questions but I'm willing to risk it. lol......

Hybrid Automobiles

There has been a lot of press lately since the price of gasoline is skyrocketing about hybrid cars and possible side effects to folks with pacemakers. I guess while the car is not running with the use of the gasoline engine it creates a significant electromagnetic field. Does anyone drive a hybrid or has anyone been affected by the EMF?

Getting back to training

I am four months removed from having a PM implanted and am desperately trying to gain the confidence to get out and begin training again for a triathalon I was planning on running in June before my episode.

My EP assures me that I am good to go, but when I run I feel as if my heart skips or something. As a result I slow down or walk and just do not seem to be making progress. Again, the EP assures me that everything is OK.

Has anyone else experienced this?
How have y...

Thrombosis After AV Node Ablation

I spent last evening in the ER, with a red, swollen and very sore leg. My leg has been minimally sore for four days but yesterday was much worse.

It's a thrombosis, a big one, one month post-op....unusual but obviously can happen.

I'm to return to the hospital today, for an ultrasound and doppler to see how "bad" the thrombosis is and to decide upon treatment.

Needless to say, this is a bit disheartening and frightening.

I hope that this is just a b...
