Seem to be stressssssssed lately!

Hi, I have had my pacemaker for 3 years this month! I have had many good days with the pacer.

I have reduced the stress in my life by changing jobs 2 times. I have a very good job now and I like what I do. My heart had settled down after the PM implant and overall I have felt that I have adjusted quite well.

Here is the problem... lately I have been very stressed. It is effecting my heart and how the pacer works. I feel these large heavy beats and I feel my chest...

I t worked - I think

A few months ago I posted about a devise called a remote assistant which I was told to use any time that I got that weird dizzy feeling. No one seemed to understand what I was talking about. Anyway, every couple of months I have a bad day with 5-6 "events" and I was supposed to carry this devise around and press a button on it and hold it against the PM so that it would keep a record of heart tracings for 3 minutes around the time of the event. Well last week I had one of those days. The first 2...

Newbe

I will have my first pm 'installed' this Friday. Just wanted to ask a question of anyone which may have info about. My bp is around 45 and lower and I have experienced a shortness of breath since the low bp (too much medicine?) anyway, has anyone else experienced this and if so, did it subside once the pm was put in?
Thanks, Doug

Copy Machines

HI Everyone,

I have had to be on light duty at work because of what the Drs. think might be a torn rotator cuff. Since I am on light duty ( I am a Preschool teacher) I do things like paper work.

My question is...will doing a lot of coping at one time affect my PM? I know there are certain things we are supposed to stay away from but...wasn't sure about a coping machine.

God Knows...I don't want to find out the hard way.

Any help will be appreciated.

Blood pressure spikes - nocturnal

I've had my PM since August. For a couple months I'm having nocturnal blood pressure spikes, one to four times a week. Last night was the first night I had two awakenings in one night. My doc doesn't have an answer - doesn't know if it's related to the PM or not. Anyone else had this problem? I wake up with heart beating faster and harder than usual, and feeling trembly all over, and if I get up and check my BP it is indeed high (e.g., 180/95). I feel great during the day!

New PM recipient needs advice please

I had a PM implanted November 2007 and am told I am doing fine, a diagnosis that I generally accept. However, I do have the usual recipient's insecurities about this new device in my body. If you can help me with information about the following, I'd be grateful. (1) I know that blood pressure meds can make one lightheaded if one rises or stands quickly, but will the PM increase the dizziness? (2) Is there a momentary lag between the time one rises and the tiem the PM PM adjusts to the body's n...

They Can't figure it out.

So I got my pace maker in May 2007 after 5 years of passing out with Vasovagal syncope. (Took them so long because they thought it was just because I was young women, then they thought it was allergies.) Anyways I am still taking many drugs and have my pace maker, and I am still passing out. Im not talking just once or twice I have passed out every day in the 23 days most days more then once. I was put in the hospital and I still passed out there to. Anyways I was wondering if anyone else still...

TV sensor

Hey again. I just read the post about lightening, and I can sort of sense it. What a weird sensation! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone can sense TVs? It feels so weird... the hairs on my neck stand up and my skull feels like it's buzzing. I usually roll my shoulder so when there is someone nearby they ask what is wrong. It's kind of embarrassing.

JUST HAD PM CHECK UP

Hi All,
I just had my 6 months PM Checkup this a.m. and it is pacing quite nicely. Thanks to you, my newfound friends, I was able to ask some intelligent questions; some of which I had thought about and never asked. Others were about things I learned here. I feel better now that I know a bit more about my PM. I know that my levels are 70 to 130 which I didn't know. I know that my lead in the lower chamber has not had to pace, but the one in the upper chamber is pacing about 50% of the t...

BLUE TOOTH

A friend I made in hospital bought a blue tooth device to fit in his car. I have never had one of these devices and I know nothing about them. He said it enables him to talk to his mobile. Howver he has sent it back and had a full refund as every time he swiched it on in his car it made him feel dreadful and was interfering with his ICD pacemaker. Any comments

Passing out

I too was one of those people that was passing out after I got my PM. I had just posted as VERY DISCOURAGED. I was just readmitted to the hospital last week for passing out twice. They have now readjusted my PM and set my pace at 70 but when I get up and start moving around it is set to jump up to 100. They also found that my potassium was a little on the low side so they have me taking a supplement and want me to start drinking things like powerade or gaterade. I feel so much better. I'm not ne...

My Mother's Bloating...?

Hello!

My mother had a pacemaker/ICD implanted last summer, around late July/early August. Her heart has been fine ever since. No pain or complications - period.

However, lately, she's been experiencing some gas/bloating in her upper abdominal area. She's been to the emergency room, her cardiologist/specialist and our regular doctor. They ran about every test you can think of (x-ray, upper GI, ultra-sound, blood work, etc.). Her heart and pacemaker are working perfectl...

Hi been mia lately

Had some nieces that were in the ER. Then had an ice storm. Then my brother invited me and my family to go on a cruise with him. It was my first ever cruise Did the Royal caribbean cruise to Jamaica and Grand caymans. OMG I never got patted down so much in my life as I did on that trip. They patted me from the top of head to my toes. I did learn something. Walking through the rainforest was really neat but there were lots and lots of steps. Thats the first trip I actually felt no stress and re...

question

Does anyone have or know someone that has both a pacemaker and ICD implanted? I understand that an ICD can act to assist in both fast and slow rates, but is primarily for fast rates.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
