Well, after all of the problems that I had been experiancing over the last week or so, I finally went in to see my doctor on Friday. They of course checked my pacer and made some adjustments, and also adjusted my meds.
My doctor had originally thought that my only problem was low blood pressure and a low heart rate that was causing me to faint. After PM interrogation, she finds that I have sick sinus syndrome, and possibly tachycardia. This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to hav...

I am 59 years old. I had a pacemaker put in on Oct.18, 2007. My first pacemaker check up in the Doctors office is Jan. 31st. Everything has gone according to what the doctor had told me. I use to go to the bar with a friend maybe 2x's a month and have 6 or so beers in a matter of 4 hours. Now, it seems that when I do, ( and I have only went 2 x's since my pacemaker was put in), I really get sick the next day and it lingers for 7-10 days. I get nauseous, light headed, legs are weak, dizzy....

so I go in the morning for my second PM. They don't know if I need new wires or not yet... One of the leads attached itself to the aorta and caused a paricardialo effusion that had over 2.5 liters, has anyone else ever had anyone like this before??? Have you gotten a second one? How did it go? I'm kind of nervous. It's going to be at 6:30am and I've never talked to anyone else with these circumstances... I'm tired of hearing that I'm in everyone's prayers and thoughts... It's sweet, but gets old...

I hope people aren't tired of my questions, and I apologize if you are. But I'd really like to know: what is the longest time it took for anyone's pain to stop with out additional surgical intervention? I have been told I need to consider repositioning leads and/or pacemaker, but I think I'm experiencing more than one kind of pain. And if a lot of the pain I'm having is nerve pain and/or keloid pain, I don't want to simply start that whole process all over again. One cardiologist says give it...

Hi,
I'm new to this site and I've found it quite informative. I've had my PM for three weeks and I haven't had many problems. The main one being shortness of breath. They made adjustments two weeks ago and it's not as bad, but while laying in bed last night I had some problems breathing properly. I have the PM for atrial fib. I did have the av nodal ablation. I've always been very symptomatic with it. Has anyone else had similar problems? After six ablations, I was hoping that t...

Hi PM Pals
Life has recently been really stressful. I have been experiencing a type of weakeness/fluttery feeling down the middle of my chest. It will suddenly come on at any time. The doc did an eecg and asked me if I had had a heart attack. I think that was because the tape queried my av block. /
A couple of months ago I had really bad asthma. I also ended up with thyroiditis. My thyroid tablet dosage was doubled. I am now wondering if this could be causing my funny fee...

To: Joyunderhiswings, January 13, 1955. 53 years young.
Read this to the tune of " Toreador. "
Today's your Birthday, I wish you many more,
Parties galore, fun til you snore.
Time....to celebrate this day for you,
The day of your early debut.
Blow out your candles then, grab a balloon,
And sing this Birthday tune.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB! I hope it's the best.

Hi Everyone
I finally got my EP to agree to do something about all the pain I am having here.I think he has noticed that my Pm has moved also...Causing much pain.
I am having my surgery on Tuesday and they are going to be cutting the muscle & putting it behind there.
Does anyone know...Do they put you all the way asleep for this? They didn't the first time which was much better for me as I have a very hard time with it. How is the recovery time as opposed to jus...

Hi,
I've been reading where quite a few of us are having discomfort at the incision site and just wanted to share my experience. Fortunately for me, I had no real problems except just..well discomfort and some pain here and there. I've had my PM for almost 6 months now. Where the seat belt bothered me immensely the first few months (I used a hand towel rolled up) I know don't even know it's there. Don't need to use the towel anymore. Also after about two months suddenly I develo...

I wrote in about my pulse being under the setting, it very well could be that i'm not getting a good read by just taking it myself. Some of you talk about monitors you have is it okay to use a heart monitor like the ones you wear working out. I have a pulsar one.. Thanks..
response to CathrynB
I am a new "pacer" as of 11-7-07 and I also have discomfort that seeems to be increasing over the incision site especially when I am wearing my seatbelt. I did purchase the seatbelt adapter but it does not seem to help. I have also tried the sheepskin covers and they work somewhat but not after a long period of driving. Any suggestions? Is it too soon for me to start using the massage therapy suggested by CathrynB? Thanks for any info.

Hi everyone, I am new to the site I found it looking up pain after pm surgery. I had a replacement on Jan. 3, 08 not wires just pm everything looks fine with the incision but the last 3 days I have been getting this pain in that general area and in my breast area in the same location. Now this pain goes from being faint to like a sharp pain it is very uncomfortable and I wasn't sure if I should be concerned. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Thanks, Roxanne

Finally! I had a Medtronics Adapata (RDL model with larger battery-dual chamber paced at 60-104) implanted yesterday. I want to thank everyone here for their support and encouragement. My situation was a problem with exercise (sometimes just plain exertion of any kind) intolerance which led to a lower heartbeat. My real problems started after exercise when I would experience real brady. I also had started experiencing elevated BP (150/100) range.
I got the 2 month sentence (lol). I d...

Vicki, and others - I would love to come to the place where I don't know my pacemaker is there most times. Actually, I don't usually feel my pacemaker. It's the incision and pacemaker leads I am having pain from. I'm an elementary school music teacher and pianist. My normal day includes doing things from "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" with kindergartners, to conducting string orchestra, to playing piano accompaniments for various school, church, and other ensembles. At the end of a serv...

Hello ICD friends, is there anyone out there who's experienced a lead fracture from his/her ICD before? Either ventricular or atrial lead fracture. Because mine is under recall and am PM dependent (due to no escape rhythm) I'm quite concerned lately and getting rather depressed and morose. If you have had a fracture, what were your symptoms and how soon did you find out before something was done for you? Was it an emergency when your symptoms were felt, and did you get enough time to get help? I...

I have been troubled lately seeing all of the posts from our members who have VVS or NCS. The theme lately is I now have a PM but I feel terrible. I am still getting dizzy and still passing out or blacking out. Seems as though the pacer is not helping. I have seen many of these posts during the last few weeks. I have tried helping by mentioning what my EP did for me in fixing my problem with this malady. It has been hard to tell each one and based on all that are writing in there must be many mo...

I would love to hear from those of you that have had your base setting turned up. My son is almost 18 months old and has a pacemaker. Because of his young age, he cannot tell me what is going on. He has an EnPulse dual chamber, rate responsive Medtronic pacemaker. However, the atrial lead is fractured, so he is only being paced ventricularly (sp?) and it is set to motion. A very young child functions a bit differently than an adult b/c he doesn't engage in any sustained aerobic activity and...

The following is from a story in the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN on 1-11-08 By Claire Osborn
Defibrillator jolt scared off attacker.
A 60-year-old woman's cardiac defibrillator saved her from being sexually assaulted, according to an arrest warrant
released by the Austin Police Department.
When the North Austin woman awoke in her bed, a teenage boy was tying some thing around her neck and hands, saying,"You know you want it; just let me do it," according to...

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
