Iliac vein missing at birth

Hi there.

I had my pm changed out on Dec. 19th. When they went to put the temporary pacemaker in, they determined that I was born without my "external iliac vein" in my right leg. Has anyone else heard of this? I've been looking on the internet trying to find the probabilities of this occurrence and to see if any one else mentions this condition, but have not come across anything.

I'm not concerned as I haven't had any problems with it, but I'm really curious and inter...

Dizziness and Numbness

My dad got a pacemaker put in 2 months ago after have severe dizzy spells to the point of almost passing out. He wore a monitor for 48 hours and they discovered his heart was stopping for up to 4 seconds at a time.

After the surgery he felt fine for 3 weeks, but then started to have the episodes again. They last from a couple of minutes up to 10 minutes. During that time he is very dizzy and his right side becomes numb (his tongue, arm and leg). All through the episodes his pulse rate...

Medtronics recall

I have a recalled medtronic lead and have been urged to follow up with a lawsuit against medtronic due to possible complications down the road, even possible death. Has anyone else been contacted and if so, what are you doing about it. I have heard that medtronic is offering $800.00 to replace the lead which does not cover the cost at all not to mention any complications that might occur.
When I ask my medtronic rep about replacing it she was very vague and acted like it was not their p...

Hi PM Pals

Hope you all had a great Christmas. We had a quiet time. We couldn't go to the beach as the weather was so windy and cold. It was just a quiet time with my daughter and Grandson and my husband, Brian.

We are gradually sorting out everything. In a couple of months we are packing the car and taking the dog and just heading off into the sunset like Thelma and Louise. Our doc said it was the best thing we could do. Just walk away from the BBB
(Boys behaving badly) Our ferry ti...

Cardio called, V tach issues

My cardiologist called tonight, seems my chart was flagged after my pacemaker interogation. Gee it only took them 13 days to call..... anyway, he was very concerned because I had a lot of v tach going on during the pacer ck and was symptomatic. The tech had said something about they might want to add an ICD to my pacer... would they have to replace the pacemaker and put in new one with ICD? Confused and quite frankly scared. I did some research, this v tach thing sounds scary. How can I have thi...

getting ready for a new angel

Hi Dear Friends,

This time tomorrow morning my pacemaker replacement surgery should be well underway. It is about 8AM now and I am scheduled to be at the hospital by 6AM.

It has been 13 years since I did this. My current pacemaker has served me very well. I've always thought of it as an angel on my shoulder. Now it is time for a new angel! I hope this one with all the new bells and whistles will help me live a full life just as well.

I am not without fear or...

**New Member Alert**

Hi Guys - At last I've found where you're all hiding. Taken a while, but great to have located such a wealth of experience on this forum, really, a huge difference in reading your stories.

Little bit about me, I'm 29, live just outside London, hypertensive since 18 yrs, diagnosed with third degree AV block about 4 weeks ago. Symptoms include, short fast heart beat bursts, then (on seperate occassions) a feeling like my heart has a bit of a cough, so, from my own research the bottom c...

Pacemaker Data capacity

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how many days or moths data can be stored in a typical pacer? I am stationed overseas and the local doctor says to come in every 3 to 4 months. My family doctor said about every 6 months. Last time I had the pacemaker read the doctor wrote a report stating "normal functioning of the pacemaker." Isn't there something that can be downloaded, some sort of report?
Thanks for your help.

Does anybody wonder....

I have to back track abit beofre I get into the title/subject line. I have had a heart condition since birth, and ended up having two open heart surgies as a child. I always knew that I would need a third - it was only a question of when. Back in February of 2000, I collapsed at work - ended up going to Emergency, and ended up being admitted to the Hospital where I was told the next day by my Cardiologist that I needed a pm. I had one implanted within days. In September of that year, I had my th...

I get better advise here than at Drs

Hello all, and hope everyone had Happy Holidays. Last week went to cardiologists for pacer check, the tech said I am now totally dependent on my pacemaker, I was in active AV Mobitz II block during the test as matter of fact. Now here is what I am astounded about. Six months ago, he told me I was pacing 0 percent atrial and 36 percent ventricle and had about 10 years left on my battery. This time, I am 100 percent both atrial and ventrical and only 3 years left on my battery! I was to say the le...
