CRT-D and EF

I'm having a CRT-D in January and just wondering if others have seen much improvement in their Ejection Fraction afterwards. My EF is down to 15% from 30% 12 months ago, probably from several episodes of Atrial flutter and just getting back to 30% would do me.

Backpacking packs

Hi everyone!

I've posted about backpacking here before, but I'm back with a new issue! I got my pacemaker placed in Feb 2020 at 23 years old. Due to my age (and for cosmetic reasons) my EP put my pacemaker further to the left than normal, and under my muscle (sitting directly under a backpack strap). I am a big hiker/backpacker, but only got to go on 2 trips this year (both under 50 miles each, 2-4 nights). For each trip my pack was pretty light as I nev...

Heart rate during exercise

Hello! I would like to ask if anyone knows why during exercise when my heart reaches 138 beats the pulse drops sharply and after a few seconds returns to the previous level. Also 138 is the maximum to which the pulse rises. Once it gets there it falls sharply. This was not the case with my previous pacemaker. The replacement was made 2 months ago.

experience with Micra AV and exercise?

53 yo male. I developed bradycardia suddenly a little over a month ago. I was initially in a state of complete heart block, but after going off a medication (imipramine), I am now in first degree AV block, with a long PR interval (432 ms). My cardiologists don't know the cause but they believe it was not from a heart attack. I am awaiting a heart MRI to check for sarcoidosis in the heart, which is unlikely, but since the cause of the heart block is a mystery they want to check. (They...

Driving post CRT D procedure

I'm concerned if I can't drive for 6 months after CRT D op as I would have no quality of life. I rely on a car for exercise - gym/golf etc and shopping and I am the family taxi, visiting friends , days out etc etc.

Little history - HF for 20 years (heart attack @ 43) Have been a single parent the last 12 years and have done most things that I needed to do. Atrial flutter came along 12 months ago and I had an ablation which seems to have worked but doc suggested a CRT D as well....

Increased HR in cold weather

Hi All. I have noticed recently with cold weather that my HR when walking my dog (easy 1.5 miles) may increase to 115-130. Previously would average 80-90 in warmer weather. Has anyone experienced this. I have a Medtronic DC Azure for bradycardia and chronotropic incompetence. Thanks for your input.

Medtronic Azure Upper Sensor Rate - How did the EP get to the number?

Hello!

I was wondering if the Upper Sensor Rate of your Medtronic PM is set to 100% of your max HR for your age OR was it reduced to, say, 90% or something less of the max HR?

Getting a little nervous

Hi all,

I'm scheduled to receive a Biotronik pacemaker next Friday and the more I think about it the more questions I have.  I'm not sure which model I will be receiving other than it is a dual lead.  I'm a 72 YO male, the reason for the PM is heart block which caused me to pass out one time back in July.  My cardiologist had me wear a Holter monitor for 3 days and it showed 2 instances of heart block.  I am an avid cyclist, and ride at least&nb...

Heart rate

Hello Cyborg Friends

When I go for a fast walk around the oval  my heart rate  will be on hr 83 for 10 seconds then it jumps to 136 for 10 seconds then back down to 83,.  No symptoms unless it bounces up to 160-170, then I cant breathe. I am 100% paced due to total heart block, I am also brady/tachy and have a laking MtraValve.  Next check up 4monhs, I wonder if this is because someimes Im being paced on the bottom and it might switch to pacing top and bott...

Running out of patience.

I don't know where to start. Last week I had a series of scans that will continue tomorrow. I had an MRI with and without contrast. I had a Nuclear Medicine Scan. I had a PET scan. Lots of radioactive dye running through my viens. Tomorrow I will have a thoracic ecocardiagram with tang or something that will be injected. lol Anyway, in the past two weeks my pacemaker was adjusted three times. It doesn't seem to be right... I run. Each morning I set out to do an easy 7 miler. My pace i...

SOB - New Pacemaker Implant

So I am 52 years old and have a CRT-D.  I have had cardiomyopathy for 30 years.  EF down to 20% but prior to PM implant (Sep 8 2020) I had a pretty good exercise tolerance.  I could sustain 120bpm for 40 mins no problem.

So since I've started exercising, I have ZERO tolerance.  Walking uphill (moderate incline) is a struggle.  On most moderate hills I have to stop and catch my breath.  I feel like my HR immediately skyrockets upon star...

Chest Pain post intense workouts (HIS Bundle Pacer)

Hello from Oregon!

I'm about 18 months out from HIS Bundle implant for complete AV block. I believe I am the only HIS Bundle patient in this extremely large practice.

Twice with high intensity workouts, where I pop up to my 170 cap, I experience 3-4 hours of mild tachycardia 95-105 followed by over 48 hours of chest pain and fatigue.

All lab work normal - thus no heart attack.

Anyone else experience similar phenomena?

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
