amiodarone

Had my PM done in 3/09 in emergency situation. Had CHF and an EF of 20 and a number of complications so I was in hospital a while. First I thought the PM needed tweaking but after raising the lower to 70 from 60 that was it, no more changes. I was reading the list postings and saw the ones on amiodarone and the light bulb went off. Did some researching and tackled my cardio about it last time I saw him. He didn't seem to be listening but after a lot of silence and computer typing he gave the okay to stop it for 2 wks. My problems were SOB, nausea, insomina, fuzzy mind, no energy, etc. etc. etc. My dose was 100 mg 1x/day. Well, it's been about 10 days and I can't tell you how much better I feel! I still have SOB but not as bad. For the first time in 11 mos, I do not have nausea. I have been sleeping better, the checkbook doesn't take nearly as long with a clear mind, and I can do tai chi again. If I do need that kind of medication, he's going to have to find a better drug. We have a good, if quirky, relationship so I think he can do that. It is something of a worry but I feel so much better I guess I'll risk it.
Thanks to all the people who post on the list and the diversity of the topics on the list.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
