Cold shoulder after Pacemaker Surgery

HI All. On May 11th I had my pm changed and I’ve been having pain in My left shoulder and if I’m in a cold room My shoulder hurts so bad I can hardly stand it. The first PM could not be seen now I have a large lump and it all so is very sore and when I touch it a pain shots up my neck and down my shoulder. Called in and will see the PM nurse in the AM, told her all this and seems like it’s new to her.But did say the lump was the PM and would settle down with time but it’s been 3 weeks and it’s seem bigger. Does anyone have this problem? Thank’s Anita S

red?

Is it red or oozing at all? If it is, get in asap! Or if you have a fever. Those are all signs of infection.

I've had three changes now. Sometimes it holds fluid and makes a lump for a while after but I never had pain like you described. I was told to use a heating pad on low a couple of times a day, in a few days the swelling/lump went away.

Good luck!

I do not have the coldness but I do have a huge PM lump. I was told it would settle and go down but it's been 3 mos. and it's still humongous with the skin stretched so tightly over the lump it's sore in some positions; plus it's still traveling around trying to jump over my collarbone or sit on my sternum. Dr. said try to get used to it cause he didn't want to mess with anything till my heart was better., afraid of infection he said.
Good luck to you.

I also had a cold shoulder, and a lump where the pacemaker is. The doctor said there was not enough fat over where they inserted the pm, and the lump will always be there. It feels very strange, and is tender. Since my PM was implanted in Mid May, the doc's keep telling me it's normal for now.

Well this is my second PM and I did'nt have this problem before like the cold shoulder tenderness and what fells like a shocking pain and yes he is concerened about infection but with it on the nerve and the pain is so bad welling to do it. My PM was flat before and not a big lump and I hope it's flat again. I go in on the 11th at 11:30 surgery at about 1:00pm. I will get back to you all in the next few days and let you know how it turns out. I hope things get better for you
