bisoprolol fumarate cardioversion

i just had a cardioversion done 1 day ago and they put me on bisoprolol fumarate but i woke up feeling flushed my face was warm and neck is that just a side affect?
also can any1 tell me some side affects?
and I wanted to know about drinking Lager shandys and the occasional Cigarette? thanx

Bisoprolol fumarate is a beta blocker and can have some
adverse side effects. The the information I got for bisoprolol fumarate say do not drink alcohol, so the Lager shandys may have to be put on hold for a while. There was no mention of smoking.

The side effects of bisoprolol fumarate are as follows:

SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include dizziness or lightheadedness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience swelling of ankles or feet; unusual thirst or fatigue; muscle pain or weakness; difficulty breathing; or an unusually slow or irregular heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your health care provider.

I'm not familiar with that medication; perhaps you should call your pharmacist and ask about your face and neck. Just to be on the safe side.

I'm not going to be very much help at all because I don't even know what Lager Shandys is, but I'm guessing it's a type of beer? If so, personally I would not be mixing medications with alcohol. Not a good mix at all.

Cigarettes....well, you know the answer to that already.

Didn't your doctor or nurse go over any of the does and don'ts with you before they discharged you from the hospital????

It's just my opinion but after just having a cardioversion done, I'd be thinking it would be wise to take it easy for the next little while and you probably would recover or heal a bit faster if you didn't smoke.

Sorry it this sounds like a lecture, it's not meant to be, as we all have a right to make our own choices, but I think what you need is some rest and some good healthy food!

I'm on bisoprolol fumarate 2.5mg and I was a little worried when I read no alcohol as I had some last night! but panic over the info sheet in the box says the following:

the dizziness and lightheadedness that may be caused by bisoprolol fumarate can be made worse if you drink alcohol. If this happens to you, you should avoid drinking alcohol

for side effects it says (obviously amongst many many more!):

under 'rare' it does mention flushed appearance under allergic reactions but being flushed could mean anyhting - if youre worried go and ask the dr.

I read the info sheet really carefully and it doesnt mention anything about smoking

I don't have the same diagnosis as you but do take beta blockers....sadly I also smoke and wish I didn't. I've found that I sooooooooo cannot completely stop right now. My doctor is aware and is pleased I've cut down. I also ask if I could have an occasional drink and they said yes. Basically...call your dr and ask.
