I think I am losing my mind

I have been sick for a little over 2 years now. I have had 3 ablations and 2 failed attemps. This was for ROVT. So needless to say the prob;em continued. I had a 30 day moniter put on because I started passing out again. In goes a pacemaker for Sinus Node Dysfunction. Apparently I would go from a very fast tach and then it would go to a-fib. UGGGHH! So I thought the new pacemaker on July 9th was going to fix al this.2 weeks after surgery all the same things started comming back again. My blood pressure has sky-rocketed out of control...meds are not working. we are talking a mild 220/120. Last week I had what they are calling a TIA. So after all this they send me for one of those cartoid artery scans...well now they say they are more tha 50% blocked. I AM 41. I am so frustrated.I have to go to a vascular surgeon and have no idea what they will do. Any clues? To top this all of my long tern disability says I am not sick enough. So now I am fighting with an appeal. Apparently you need to send them your heart Fed Ex before they believe you. Thanks all for letting me vent. Its just a bad day and I didnt know where else to turn.

I'm sorry you're having so many problems! Disability is a real pain to get through. We have some members here who can give you some tips, or if you search the old posts it has come up before.

Did they try to do an ablation to stop the tachy and afib? Because a pm can't fix those things. It can only step in and speed up your heart if it's too slow, it can't slow it down when it goes too fast on its own. It can, however, take over for your sinus node if they ablate it. Sometimes ablations don't work, unfortunately. If the ablation was successful, it may take a few tries to get your settings right so you feel good again.

TIA isn't cardiac, though I imagine the high bp probably didn't help.

Blood Pressure

I too suspect the TIA is due to BP. Transient Ischemic Attack I think. Like a tiny mini-stroke I think (check the web!) My sister has high blood pressure and had a TIA maybe 5 years ago now and has been careful so no repeat TIAs. Phew ! She eats well (plenty of fiber) and does not over exert herself ...Hope this helps a bit.

You know you're wired when...

You prefer rechargeable batteries.

I'm 43 and have had my pacemaker four weeks today. I'm looking forward to living another 50 years and this marvelous device inside me will help me do that.
