erm ....

Hi, i have had my pacemaker for nearly 6 months now. I was 14 when i had it fitted, and I'm now 15.
Up until a couple of weeks ago, i used to be able to feel the actual battery through my skin, underneath my arm, which my consultant said was perfectly normal considering the place where he installed it. I can now no longer feel it. Is it possible for them to move? Can anyone else feel their PM?

Thanks, Sian

its not under the arm on the left side of my chest. I would think that if you could feel it before you should still be able to feel it now, it shouldnt move far enough that you wouldnt be able to feel it if you did before, I wouldnt think.

Movement of pacemaker

My implant was Sept 2008. Last check up I asked doc about pm moving as I felt it had moved, slightly. He said not unusual as body (tissues, etc) are still getting used to having a foreign body implanted. I now feel that it has moved even more and one corner feels raised up higher than before, but no pain or problem with it so will just mention it next time I go in for checkup. I would think you should still be able to feel your PM, but guess each person would be different. Good luck

Yep, they can move. Most people can feel them but some of us cannot, it depends how deep it is and how you're built. Theoretically they are stitched into place and should stay put, but some surgeons skip that step, sometimes sutures come undone, or, what I suspect is the case with you, you are still growing and it just settled nicely into place.

Thanks :)

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
