Yet another kind of pain

One week after my PM fitting, I've been getting this weird pain inside my right rib cage. (My PM is on the left, just under the collar bone.)

Yesterday morning I felt some discomfort along the inside of the right lower rib cage (liver should be on that side too). 3am this morning I woke up with it getting worse, moving up the right side inside, midway. It feels like sharp shooting pain but gets worse when I breath just bit more deeply. If I sit up, the pain is mostly at lower right, but when I lie down, I feel the pain both along the lower and middle.

This reminds me of something similar years ago when the pain was inside the left of my chest. I remember it happened while I was swimming. The doctor diagnosed it as something inflammatory in the chest wall (or diaphram? I forgot). He gave me antibiotics. I don't remember it lasting long.

So I sat there (not wanting to wake up wife), for several hours focusing on breathing and pressing/massaing all kinds of acu-points (I know only a few out of hundreds that treat certain part of the body) which I could reach without aggravating the pain, and finally I was able to "fully" breathe and catch up one more hour of sleep, although the pain is still there.

And I remember now what I have been feeling was in fact an amplification of that funny sore feeling inside the middle of the chest the night they kept me in the hospital right after the procedure, when I was trying to take deep breaths.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I'm going to call/visit doctors in a little while.

get it checked out!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, for peace of mind. I'd go to the ER if and when it happens again as they might be able to catch it on an EKG or even better....ask to wear a Holter Monitor.

Good luck & keep us posted.

Back from the doctor, etc.

Thank you Ellen and Pookie. The doctor said very much the same thing about going to ER if this happens again: "Like what you felt at 3am this morning".

In addition I got some medications to prevent possible infection/inflammation, and a prescription for x-ray to see if lungs are affected.

Now feeling a little better after lunch and a nap.

Just a thought

Me too.

I got my pm 1/09. I had the same thing for several weeks. I don't think it's anything to worry about, but if it's severe you should definitley have it checked out.
