please help

Hi its Ellie here,

I have now had my pm 4 months and am trying to get back to normal, but my pm moves under my arm when i turn at night to the left, when i lift my left arm in the air i can get hold of the pm, which is causing me still not too sleep at night and causing me to be stressed.
Also still very sore and tender, is this normal ?

The consultant said the pm might need to be put in deeper.

I would be so grateful for any feed back, I just want to get on with my life the best way i can.

love ellie

9 months in and still tender

I am 9 months in and if i am active and doing a lot with my arm I am still tender and my doc says it will probably always likely get tender if I do something that moves the pocket around a lot (running, lifting, hiking, anything with a lot of shoulder or arm activity). Not really pain anymore, but just general soreness and tenderness.

normal

No, it's not normal, but it's not uncommon either. Sometimes they move. Sometimes it's the way we're built, and the usual placement just isn't going to work well. The best thing to do is discuss the options with your doctor. They usually wait 6-12 months for it to settle in completely before doing a reposition, but if you're miserable you may want to have it done sooner. Definitely let your dr know there is a problem. Some people have prolonged soreness, but excessive soreness at 4 mos is not normal.

I am small boned and was very underweight when I got my first pm so my dr brought in a plastic surgeon and buried it deep, behind the breast rather than higher on my chest. It meant a more invasive surgery and longer healing, but it's very comfortable now and, I feel, well worth it.

Angelie, another member here, had hers repositioned last month. Hers is under the pectoral now, not as deep as mine but no longer under her collarbone and poking out.

Thank you

Thank you for taking your time to answer my concerns.

I will leave it for a few months and if things are still unsettled then i will speak about having pm repositioned.

I am a very sporty lady and finding it all to much at the moment.
