it's day 12 after the pm implantation. when i sleep on my left side..it hurts my shoulder as if the metal is pressing. when i tried to move my arm to reach my right shoulder..sumthing is pressing above my armpit i guess..n i found out dat there is a bruise above my armpit..where i can feel a metal in it. is that the lead? i don't feel comfortable on my shoulder during the day..after 12 hours i would feel shoulder ache? are all these normal? how long is it going to end?

It takes time

I got my pm on 9/11. I still have tenderness on the site and around it. When I sleep on my left side it isn't always comfortable either. It feels like my pm is being pushed up against my left shoulder.

It will get better. Try icing it.I still do it sometimes. It kind of numbs the surrounding area and it takes the edge off.

Good luck, feel better. :-)

Early On Problems

On Dec. 2, my PM implant will be two months old! I could not/did not sleep on my left side for about 3 weeks or so due to discomfort in the incision area. I had dissolvable stitches. My PM implant is just about an inch lower than my clavicle and now looks like only a cat scratch. I have been blessed with this.

For the first coupla months, you will be super sensitive to "what is going on" w/your implant. That is good you are "staying on top" of things so you will know what you and your body are feeling. You can tell right "stuff" from something not right with your implant/PM.

You should see your Dr. ASAP if you are feeling any kind of metal. No, this is not right. In your "profile" you do not have the City/State where you live, but your PM implant needs to be looked at.

Since I am a "newbie" on the PM Club, someone else should be commenting also. Maybe they can tell you more or different than I can as a "newbie". The only thing I feel is the lil' area where the implant is when I touch that area. Since I can not even tell where my double wires lead from the lil' "energizer bunny", I do not know what direction they take going out of the PM. Nor do I have any feelings at all, just like the PM is not there. I forget it is there until I "over do", then I feel a twinge/"pull" around the incision area. I do not know what that is all about.

Have a great week and Happy Holidays ~

What you are describing is the way I feel after having a pm implant I am on my 2nd one. My advice to you is when sleeping don't sleep on your left side right away. B/c we all move around in our sleep though I suggest placing a pillow on your left side.
I don't know if you are wearing a sling after my implants I wore a sling in the middle of the night so that I would not disturb the healing process of the leads.
Brusing is normal and my guess just guessing is that your not feeling metal completely but that your body is starting to heal and scar tissue is developing causing discomfort. Remember not to lift your hand above your shoulder. Use lots of pillows as I still after a 2 years sleep with a pillow on my side.
Talk to your dr about your discomfort you may need to go on medication for the pain part and a anti-inflamatory. I had to do that also.
You may be feeling just your pm as it is new to you and over time you will adapt to having it in you. Become friends with your device name it if you have to. Some how this calmed me down after my first implant.
After all my rambling, I recommend you call your dr and talk to a nurse to see if you should come in earlier or if they can put you on something before your first check-up. Try the pillow and if you have a sling wear that at night at least.
I wish you a speedy recovery but know that others feel the discomfort you are talking about.

Pain

Give yourself a while longer. Look at it this way. If you accidentally slammed a door on your finger, how long would it take to heal? This gives some idea of your body's response to an injury. The pacemaker implant is an injury.
