Ben Nevis, Scotland

Had my pm since 02/10 I have had little problems apart from discomfort around pm site.
I use a motorcycle for 99% of time, even went on 2662 mile holiday to Austria from Liverpool UK in June, brilliant adventure.
Last weekend decided to ride to Fort William, Scotland (about 300 mile) and do a bit of hill walking, took 5 hrs on the assent of Ben Nevis (highest mountain in UK) on the assent I could feel the pm activating occasionally but about 20 mins from top I could feel pm really kicking in (scared me at the time) and decided to turn back, the descent took another 4 hrs due to knee deciding it had done enough. All in all a very rewarding day out, did not think I would do so well, although I was a bit concerned at feeling the pm kicking in as not normally aware it is activating, at last hospital check told one lead activating 100% of time other around 42%.
In view of how I felt on the assent I think I will keep my walking activities to lower level walking in the future !!.
Take care all
Charlie

I don't have a motoecycle but was under the impression after a PM they were a no-no. So much to learn.
Sounds like you had fun except for the PM acting up. Guess it was a warning to you that it had had enough.

I do loads of hill walking, if I feel my heat going a bit mad I just take a break for a while until it calms down. It's good for us, honest.

Binky your comment made me laugh! lol, there's not that much thats a no no! Live life and enjoy!

I actually ran Ben Nevisin 1999 a year after my first pacemaker was implanted (May 98). I did bottom to top to bottom again in 3hrs 5 minutes.

I used to feel it kicking in but only to keep my heart rate up to the level it needed to be. I am now dependant on it so do not notice it much now.

It just takes some getting used to!

I have lived with a pacer, for 21 yrs now a pacer/defib for the past 4 months. There is not many no,no's. 1. shooting a shotgun with it against the device 2, bigtime wrestling where you would hit the site and knock it loose. 3.Maybe scubba diving.. but that is about it.Enjoy life and don't let others tell you that you can't do that...

You know you're wired when...
