Hi all!! Quick question: when the battery runs out on your PM and it needs to be replaced, do they replace the leeds as well, or just the battery itself? I've never had the battery run out before, just leed replacements. Any with an experience they would like to share? I think my battery will be running out soon, and I would just like a heads up :-) thanks!!

No arm above shoulder restriction

Since the leads aren't replaced there is no restriction on arm movement other than if it's painful.
It helps to sleep on the side opposite the pacer with a pillow in front to support upper arm. This keeps you from squeezing the incision area for a few days until it heals.

Just Pacemaker

The pacemaker itself is replaced. The leads are not normally replaced unless there is something wrong with them. The replacement surgery is much easier than the initial implant. It is usually done under a local with some light sedation. The pocket is opened, the leads are unscrewed from the pacemaker, and a new pacemaker is connected to the leads. It doesn't take that long, and you normally go home the same day.
