New Settings

Well I went to see my EP Tech a week ago... My original settings were @ 60/130... here I thought I was at least at 140... ughhhh. I asked for some more juice since I have finaly returned to the gym (PM impanted 3/12/10) Here is what I had noticed before my settings were changed... while on the eliptical if my HR reached over 130.. I would get a pounding ache in my chest, feel completely depleted of energy, and loss of breath also increased sweat. It was horrible, because I do my routine Cardo work out, followed by some weight lifting, (ONLY unilateral movements people) and finish with the eliptical for about 5 min or what I can handle..slow pace. SINCE my settings were changed from 130 to 150... I found out that I am haing continuous Ventricular skip, and that my lower chamber of my heart now doesnt want to really cooperate at all. (i was orignally diagonsed with Sevier Brady and syncope) My upper chamber is finally sendng/recieving the proper signals and pacing very well..only have to actually depend on the PM 38%... but NOW my lower chamber is now 100% dependant..how the heck does thi happen??

I am so confused. I can hardly make it through a 40 min workout at the gym, since the settings were changed, wich Tech said might happen... he said it might take a little bit to get use to, and with 100% pacing, and my lower ventricals not sending thier own signals, may make me tireed..and have more of the """"dizzy, loss of breath, and sloowwww feeling"""" UGHHHH.. what to do now??

Altho my Tech assured me that if anything happens it wont be the fault of my PM, that, that i working excelently... but the problem is in my actual heart... the PM is keeping me going..its my safety net... UGHHH what to do what to do?

More Experienced Tech

See if there is a PM tech in your area that has more experience dealing with people that exercise.

There has been a huge difference in the techs I've seen since my implant in July, 2008. Some honestly don't have a clue what to do if you exercise.

I finally got a tech that has conferred with some engineers at Boston Scientific about the settings on my PM. I'm getting another adjustment next week.

Medtronic reps

For any of you that have Medtronic pacers they have excellent reps that can do a programming session with you.

Also, be sure and ask for a copy of the pre and post programming report at each session. That way you have a record of what your setting were before they are changed. If things don't come out well you can at least know what settings were changed.

Don't take any flake about getting the report. It is part of your medical record which you have a right to have.

I asked about the PM check.. you know the daily self check... I was told it was in the middle of the night, that since I was alseep I would not feel it... well guess what..In the evenings around 9-10 ish i dont really pay much attention the the exact time.. I get really fast paced HR winded ect... ITS THE SELF CHECK!!! I have told my EP and Doc, about this happening during the day...several times and then also at night.. they say ohhh just anxiety!!! UHMMM hello.. why couldnt someone just tell me that my PM isself checking at various points during the eveing and possibly the day?? I had to call Boston Scientific myself for this one!!! I am going to have a session with a Rep, from there next week! Something has got to give, I think honestly my PM is on the fritz... TY everyone for your input!
