hematoma

Thanks to Frank and Bella for your comments.
I am not in the hospital. The IV treatment is at home, so I do not see a physician daily, however I have had appointments with both the surgeon and the Infectious Disease doctor since discharge. I had a chest xray which was fine and bloodwork. They do not think the sob is from heart failure, but that is what it feels like. The hematoma seems not to be of any concern, but it is still about the size of a tangerine after 21/2 wks post surgical. I did have a pressure bandage on from the recovery room, but the surgeon took it off the day after and said it would go away. Still waiting.

Have you tried ...

a warm compress?

I had a large hematoma after surgery as well. I filled an old sock with rice, closed off the top, and heated it in the microwave until it was warm - not too hot. Then while I was watching tv or something I would place the warmed sock over the hematoma. It felt great, and after a few days the hematoma was totally gone.

Not sure if it would work for you, but maybe worth asking your doc if it is worth a try.

Melissa

thanks

Thanks for the well wishes, Chrissie. I'm sure I'll get there sooner or later. I now have CDiff and feel awful from that. More (but different antibiotics)!

Thanks for the idea, Melissa. I should have thought of that. I actually have a neck pillow filled with something that works that way. I used it for my neck and shoulder after the initial PM placement. It works great and even smells like lavendar.I'll try it for this.

You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.
