For replacements, I've been sent home as soon as I kept some light food down. If I get an early am appt, I'm home for lunch.

One to two days.

About 4 hours

The actual replacement took about an hour in the OR. There was an antibiotic drip before and after which took about 15 minutes each. The replacement is much easier since the leads are already installed and can be used again. I chose to have it done without sedative type meds so I didn't need to wait around to recover from them.

I would say that unless there is some complication, there is no reason to stay overnite. I just realized you might have had yours implanted deeper for cosmetic reasons. That could make it a bit more complicated.

best wishes,

frank

I've had 7 replacements so far, and have never stayed in the hospital for longer than a few hours.

With all of mine I went in in the early morning and was discharged by 4p.m or sooner.

The last one 3 years ago I went in at 7a.m. and was out by 1p.m.

It's a relatively easy surgery. Good luck to you and my best to you, too.

I would think 24 hours at the MOST, barring no problems.
Good luck to you.

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
