I can barely pick up twenty five pounds with my left arm because the pain is so great in the upper arm and if I move the left arm real fast the pain is terriable. as you know I had my pacer installed a year ago today. is there any one on here having the same problem if their is i would love to hear from you because every time that i question my heart dr about it he will say well it has nothing to do with installing you pace maker
so I will visit me a pain dr shortly and see if he can figure out the problem and correct it. also my seat belt pulls on my pacer when I am driving the car . I had it off trooper gave me a ticket and told me to get a slip from my dr and i did that and I dont have to wear the seat belt of course I wear the lap belt but not the shoulder belt. the ticket would have been one hundred and thirty dollars in nc.

limited use of my left arm also

I am really glad to find your comment. I had mine put in March 2009 and had problems with my left arm ever since. My doctor started out saying the same thing your doctor said. I developed a blood clot in my arm July 2009, and was put on Cumiden for a couple of months. Then in 2010 I developed another clot in the same area of my left arm and was put back on cumiden. Well, November of last year my doctor decided it was the device, but they won't go in and reposition it because they say I could get an infection. So I have limited use of my left arm. I forgot to mention that my arm swells up all the time. If I lift or use it to much it swells up.

i had my pacemaker put in on jan 2010..it is on the left side....it has been six months...i still have that nerve -burning sensations...i layed around for a few months..afraid to do anything..afraid i would pull something loose...hence, my left arm got real weak.....well..i DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT...i am right -handed..but have always used my left side for lifting ...i started doing those old fashioned exercises...for exAMPLE..CAN ANY ONE REMEMBER THOSE SILLY ARM STretches..you were told to do..when first in puberty..to increase breast size?..maybe not..but i slowly over time worked up my muscles by doing anything that moved my arm....i just hoed the weeds in my garden yesterday morning in hot, 90 degree weather...i did 10 ---50 ft rows...my left arm got a little sore..but the key is....the doctor aint gonna believe you....THEY KEY IS TO EXERCISE YOUR ARMS AND BUILD THE STRENGTH UP YOURSELF...U DO NOT have to physically able..you can do things when u are sitting on the couch, at the dinner table...it really helps...

Pain From Pacemaker

Hello Gene,
I say to that Dr BS! I'm not having as much problem as you but I'm having similar pain.
But let me back up a minute. I go my first PM in 2000 and had it replaced in 2009. After the first couple of weeks I never knew I had a PM except when I happen to rub my hand across the site and feel the little (I do mean little) bump. Then I got this one and the healing process was no different from the first. After about two weeks it was fine. Then a couple of months later I started having pain on the outside of my arm, just below the arm/shoulder junction. Movement or using the arm doesn't make any difference. It just likes to throb sometimes.
I was visiting my primary care Dr and told her about the pain. Her comment was it is probably just from the pectoral muscle as implanting a PM disturbs it, but the pain should go away. It hasn't and has gotten worse and now I have other problems with the PM. What it means is I will have a "come to Jesus Meeting" with that Dr pretty soon.
Now to give you some idea of what I'm talking about, if you need it, after you log in go to the upper left side of the home page and click on Member Gallery. Then put in the Jaun as the members name. Jaun has posted a good schematic of a PM location and you can see its relationship to the pectoral muscle.
This may give you some idea how your PM can cause the pain your Dr says is not caused by the PM.
Good luck,
Smitty
