Continual pain after implant

I was very interested in Cathryn B's post about hypertrophic scar pain and her solutions. My situation sounds very similar - had first PM Jan. 2010, had it reimplanted 6 months later because of continued pain, hypertrophic scar, wires too superficial, not enough flesh coverage etc. My cardio has not come across this before and doesn't seem to recognize how much pain I have or what to do. I would like to try vibration therapy, please could someone tell me what to use for this as I know we can't use Tens machines.
It's reassuring to know I'm not the only person who has had this problem but I'm desperate to find some relief.
Thanks
Grammie

Pain over the scar after implant

It is difficult to be sure what is going on especially with the etc. bit. I doubt whether vibration therapy is a good idea so near a bit of electronic equipment.

So what would help? Best answer is something that would at least be harmless: perhaps try capaicin cream ( www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Osteoarthritis/Pages/Treatment.aspx ) - not likely to cause much of a problem.

It may be something like a non steroidal anti inflammatory cream ( eg. ibuprofen gel) would be of use.

You could ask about steroid injections into the scar ( used for scar overgrowth of tissue, such as keloid) Local anaesthetic patches are available for chronic surface pain ( they stick on and make the area underneath numb).

There are doctors specialising in pain relief. Sometimes people have long acting injections into the painful area and this makes the nerves there numb.

Just some idea- so there is hope, just find the right person to help.
Best wishes to get back to good health -Selwyn

Grammie and CathrynB,

Thank you.....I had my PM implanted on May 25th.....no problems except for the "skin itches, and pricklyness" at the scar site. Doc said to use a Cortaid type cream, really doesn't help. I will mention the hypertrophic scar and see what his opinion is and if I can get some help for it.
It is soooooooo irritating.
Again thanks
