Hello Everyone,

I just had a dual chamber PM installed on 9/9/10. I was glad to find a support site! I am 31 and didn't know I had a heart condition until I fainted at work at 7pm, was taken to the hospital and monitored overnight, then was advised the next morning at 8am that I needed a PM due to a 3rd degree electrical blockage, and an hour later was wheeled into surgery. I feel ok but tired and feel a weird kind of clicking when my heart beats. I have breast implants so wonder if that is cause for strange sensation.
I am a student and I serve at a restaurant, have no health insurance and was otherwise healthy. So lots going on as well as vanity issues. : )
Please comment if anyone would like to, has had a similar experience or any advice to give!

Angela

First, welcome to your PM Club. You will find the members are very educated, experienced and most have been through a lot of what is 'posted'. These members will be your newest, bestest Friends ~

I do not have any answers for your 'post', but one of our members or more will read this and 'comment' to you.

Your age is only 31, but there are babies who their Mom's belong to this PM Club, just for information. Then, we have the 'experienced, educated 80+ yr. olds.

Please go to the top right hand side of this 'page' and click on 'search'. Put in what you want to know about, and you will see past posts with lots of comments.

First, listen to your own doctors, then listen up most to your own body and what it is telling you.

Hello,
I hear you, about the vanity issues! I was 23 when I got my first one..I remember practicing how I was going to tell my date that I had a pacemaker.
Hiding the scar wasn't too bad.
Initially it is really hard to accept that you have this thing and your stuck with it, most things you will get used too. some things will just annoy you for life---Like, how people who don't have a device {dr's and nurses} tell you what you do and don't feel!!! my mom also has one so I will say to her, have you ever felt??? Usually she has ...
Any questions don't hesitate....I am on #4 getting ready for #5 that's the other thing, the power has to drop to a certain level, before the insurance will cover the next one. Congratulations on Life! Glad you are with us!

A cheery welcome

Hello Angela

Welcome to the PM Club. I certainly can't help you with the query about any association between the clicking sensation and your breast implants! However, you have, I believe, taken a most positive step forward in the acceptance of your pacemaker, in that you have shared your feelings and concerns with others and are prepared to seek information and advice. I wish you well as you adjust to life with your PM. Keep well, keep happy and enjoy life to the full.

I am 42 and also just had a dual chamber pace maker implanted on 09/01/10 due to bradycardia and fainting several times. haven't felt anything weird or strange, but am feeling alot better no more light headedness or passing out.

Because I'm new also I don't have any advice, except that with this site we will never go it alone!!

Thank you for your comments! It turned out that one of the leads had "shifted" and wasn't getting a good connection, so the device went into safety mode and turned up the power, so I was feeling the pulses. It became painful. So I had another surgery and the lead was reattached and now, almost 2 weeks later, I'm feeling much better.
I will hopefully go back to work in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again, it's nice to be able to connect with others who can relate!

Hugs,
Angela
