I was just wonding what other's experience has been with lead replacement. I have guidant leads that were implanted 8 years ago and I'm 100% paced (the device has been changed). I have had no problems with the devices or leads despite the long history of recalls that happened a few years ago. I am just wonding how long they typically last.

I swim, scuba, garden, hike, climb, workout, play with the kids, play tennis, baseball, basket ball and rollerblade with mine with no problem.
leads

Theoretically, leads can last forever. You hear of leads that don't stay anchored (you're 8 yrs past the risk of this one!), that get recalled, or that for one reason or another stop working, but that's the exception rather than the rule.
I got my first pm in 93 and am on my first set of leads. One is impeded, a kink ruptured through 2 of the 3 layers of insulation. It shortens my battery life but it still works so I chose not to get a new one when I had my last battery change.
