Another newbie question or two

First, kudos to all who are a part of this club, you all provide more support than you all can possibly imagine. Thank you for all the wisdom. I do have a couple of concerns -- I have an Adapta PM implant on 8/25/10 and all seemed well. (I am a 50 year old female) Then, at the end of September/ beginning of October ended up with lots of SVT and had an ablation on 10/30/10. All seemed fine, until a few days ago when the SVT has re-emerged and seems stronger, more frightening and painful. Last night, I had a SVT run that lasted for a longer period (of several minutes)than ever before.
So, what should I do? Is this something to be expected in the healing process? Should the SVT be worse? I was told to expect some minor tacky, but this does seems a little OTT.
Wisdom is welcome and Thanks.

Ablation for SVT

by ElectricFrank - 2010-11-20 10:11:18

Ablation works by destroying the cardiac tissue that originates the SVT. To be successful the surgeon has to identify the location causing the problem in order to ablate it. This is no easy task and requires a lot of skill. Even under the best of conditions the result may not be totally successful and can even make things worse.

For the best chance of success ablation should be done at one of the major heart hospitals where they have plenty of experience and it is done by well trained EP's.

My suggestion in your situation is to give it another couple of weeks (unless it becomes too much of a problem) and then check with the EP. It may be necessary to do a second ablation. If you have any question about the qualifications of the doc you might want to check around. The Cleveland Clinic has a good reputation.

Results of ablation therapy

It can take a couple of months to settle down following ablation- don't worry unless the problem is distressing, if it is see your doctor, you can always have a short course of drug therapy to help.

At the end of the day there are no guarantees with regard to outcome - about 85% will be sorted.

I appreciate your postings. I did speak with the EP's office and we agreed to stay in a holding pattern until my next appointment, which is in 2 weeks. I still feel some tacky, but nothing like the event of a few days ago. This is a journey and each new day brings an adventure! My best,
C
