Bi Ventricular ICD trouble

I needed mitral valve replacement in Dec 09 and was told by UCSF cardiovascular surgeon "Not to jump the gun" on the mitral valve replacement and it was suggested that I first try a Bi Ventricular ICD which i later discovered he was co inventor of! Against my cardiologists wishes I proceeded with the ICD replacement and after my first unsuccessful 5 1/2 hour surgery to try to put in an epicardial lead caused from my veins being occluded from the previous ICD the surgeon had to reschedule to make a 4" incision under my left nipple to put the lead in through my chest to the rear of my ventricle chamber which the did!
The Bi Ventricular ICD never did function correctly has been extremely painful and caused me to go back into Congestive Heart Failure which almost killed me! I was forced to move from Maui Hawaii to be by Stanford Hospital where I am currently being considered for a heart transplant!
The moral of my story is "Listen to your Cardiologist"!
Good Luck!

I have a pacemaker and had my fair share of issues with it, but boy oh boy, it sounds like you've had a rough go.

I'm glad to hear that you're in good hands and I wish you all the best.

Keep us posted on how you do :)

Take care,
Pookie

I'm so sorry to hear of all the pain, surgeries and suffering you've gone through. Thank you for sharing your story. I was considering a bi-ventricular for myself, glad I didn't get it. So sorry you're suffering so much! I wish you all the best and will pray for a positive outcome with your transplant. God Bless!

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
