Please help me...

Hi!
I am a 16 year old girl with a loong medical history.I have complete heart block and currently use a pacemaker.Had my first implant at 4 and a replacement a 13.
My chest hurts from time to timeand it sometimes keeps me from sleeping. It also sometimes hurts when i move, like that thing is poking through my flesh and it hurts that i don wanna breath. This can give a suffocating feeling too.

Is something wrong? I really don know what to do...please help.

Finally, anyone got any advice on how to pace myself when exercising?

Thanks.

pm moving

Hi,
I am 25. I can't imagine what it has been like for you. Though I can tell you about pm movement. I would talk to your Dr about this. I had this issue and it wouldn't shock me at all that you would.
The reason I say this is you are young still and growing. As I would gain and loose weight my pm started moving on me. They were able to position it better for me so it wouldn't hurt near as much. I got better sleep also.
In the mean time. I love those beaded pillows and use them on the side of my pm. You may want to try something like that.
Please talk to your Dr. let them know how you feel. Your pm may have just moved a little and into a uncomfortable spot.

Thinking of you!

Exercising

Everyone is different. I am 100% PM dependent and in permanent a-fib with a damaged heart. I can do everything I want just at a resonable pace as the PM is set for a high of 140bpm. Again see what the Doctor says. If you are interested check out cardiacathletes.org
Great site dedicated to cardiac patients staying active in their chosen activities. Never give up but be sure you are not putting yourself in unreasonable danger and clear things thru your physician.

Ask Doctor

Ask your Doctor what he/she thinks. If you feel they are blowing you off (Doctor/parents) because they are older then try to get in to a highly regarded place like the cleveland clinic. The previous post by Tammy was very good advice. I certainly don't think the PM should be causing physical pain.

Talk to your doctor

Sometimes I feel mine if I move a certain way and sometimes I get chest pain but I would discuss this with your doctor or your parents if you haven't already.

Thanks

My name is Alex. I'm 20 years old and got my first pacer/defib when i was 8 and have had 7 more since then. I wish I could offer more info than anyone else here but its all been mostly said. But if you would ever like to chat or vent or something thtd be really cool. I've been looking for more young people around my age and hearing from you would be great. Best of wishes.

And for excersing pace yourself. If it feels to difficult just take it back a notch.

You know you're wired when...

You participate in the Pacer Olympics.
