I had my surgery at the beginning of November. I was feeling great, but am now catching all kinds of viruses. I teach first grade. Should I take a bit of time away from germs to let myself get some energy or is this just a fluke?

This year, I did not take the flu shot due to how week I was before surgery. I am the only one in the house who is sick and also the only one who did not get a flu shot. Thanks for the information.

Being in a school, with all those kids will most likely keep you getting bugs. I doubt it has anything to do with the surgery.
Have you gotten a flu shot?

After 27 years in education, I can tell you each new school year is different. You have 18+ lil' chilluns' coming into a contained classroom, which are all new to you and themselves. Until all of you in the contained classroom can share and adjust to each other's germs and/or immune systems, everyone will be sick, even the teacher, volunteers and others who visit the class.
After that time period, you should do quite well, except if a new student or a student brings in a new germ. Wash hands, wash hands, wash hands.
'Knock on wood', after getting the flu shot, starting many years ago, I have been very lucky in not catching any/all germs being passed around ~ LOL.
Hope you have a Great Year after the Christmas,
