Severe coughing

I have had a real bad cold and have been continually coughing for approximately three weeks, coughing finally getting better. Question has anyone experienced disruption of normal heart beat, skipping a beat after or during a bad coughing spell? I received a dual chamber pacemaker in June (PM2210) and was tired for the first month or so; energy level is returning. When checking BP lately I noticed that I am missing a beat about every 10 to 15 beats??

I too caught a nasty cold in October and could not stop coughing....I went to my family doctor because it really started to hurt - all around my back and chest. Turned out I developed Bronchitis!!! She immediately prescribed me Codeine and it worked like a charm.

Question: how are you checking your blood pressure? I know that sounds stupid, but just wondering if you are going to your local pharmacy and using their machine or do you have a machine of your own at home. I ask because I too have a BP machine at home and I bring it into my family doctor's about every 6 months just to make sure it is working correctly versus the old fashion way with her pumping up the band and watching the dial thingie. So far my machine is 4 yrs old and it works very well.

Your missed beats - I'm sure with all that coughing you did, it probably is still lingering so perhaps you should go to see your family doctor and ask he/she to take your blood pressure and get he/she to listen to your heart with the stethoscope...for peace of mind. If the doctor hears the missed beat, perhaps he/she can call your cardiologist on your behalf...that is how we would have to do it - as I live in Canada. We just can't call a specialist, we always have to go via our family doctor first....well, that's the way it happens where I live:)

I wouldn't let this continue too long before bringing it up to your family doctor and/or your cardiologist.

anything is possible...perhaps with all the severe coughing, you might have dislodged a lead ever so slightly...stranger things have been known to happen.
