No I don't take it and don't plan to. And you should never stop any medicine without talking to the Dr, but look at this.

Even though Pradaxa can be a life-saving medication, there are potentially serious and even life-threatening side effects of the drug. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you develop any signs of bleeding, such as unusual bruising, blood in the urine or stools, or vomiting blood. Some of the most common side effects of Pradaxa include indigestion, heartburn, and abdominal (stomach) pain.

With the abdominal pain you are having I think you need to make a special effort to talk to your Dr and soon.

Don't mess with it.

With the holidays coming up and access to care more restricted you need to get it straightened out.

I've never heard of an ER telling someone they don't know enough about a drug etc. to do anything and sending them home. Pookie covered it well.

And for that matter it may not be the Pradaxa, but it is still a serious problem.

They need to get their ass (sorry for the language) in gear and find out how to proceed.

Leave it to Frank to call a spade a spade and an ass an ass. No apologies needed for that Frank. Happy Healthy Holidays to all

I know absolutely nothing about this drug, but I do know that if you are experiencing incredible pain, it's time to speak to whomever prescribed it to you. Not to scare you, but there are some pretty powerful and dangerous drugs out there these days and I just wouldn't want to see you be harmed in any way, shape, or form because of a pill.

Sounds like you got absolutely nowheres when you went to the ER....

One source (I have found) that is excellent to help with situations like this is your local pharmacist. Perhaps, and I am just guessing, but you might need something like Sulcrate to protect the lining of your stomach before taking Pradaxa.

I just know if I were you....I would be seeking help immediately, even if it means going back to the ER!!!!!!

What ER doctor in their right mind would send somebody home with possible blood in their urine and severe abdominal pain???? - and knowing you are on this relatively new drug and the side effects that are known to be dangerous...I just don't understand the medical system sometimes.

Please seek help immediately because you don't want another problem to be dealing with all because of this drug.

Better safe than sorry - so they say.

Take care,
Pookie
