Irregular heartbeat.

When I got my PM I had a follow up appointment in a week and they started fine tuning it. Then an appointment in one month. After that ,every 6 months. I have had no problems since. It does take time for it to settle in to a regular pattern.

Follow up

On my follow up they discovered one of my leads had come loose and was in the top of my heart instead of the bottom. They think is was a result of a really bad cough I got when I came home from the hospital. My next appointment was today but I got snowed in. What were you symptoms before they started the finetuning?

Checkups

They don't always make changes at the checkups. There is usually one major programming to change the factory settings to those more suitable for you. There may be a few more small changes depending on how things are going for you.

After that the idea is too watch for any changes as your heart adapts to the leads and being paced. There is also the possibility that the condition which resulted in your needing a pacemaker is continuing to cause changes in your heart. As time goes on they also need to monitor battery condition too.

Checkup frequency ranges between every 3 months to every year. They may also give a phone check device.

In my case I have an office visit every 6 months with a phone check in between them.

You know you're wired when...

You’re officially battery-operated.
