post op comps ?

I have had a dual channel PM implanted 13 Jan 2011. Op went well but subsequently I feel breathless & lightheaded. Are these early days or something to take into consideration ?

Post Op Complications???

Hi:)

Welcome to the club.

If ever you feel breathless and/or lightheaded....please call your doctor as soon as possible. I think the least you should get is a chest Xray to see if your leads are still in place.

Call your doctor....please?

Take care,
Pookie

I had the same problems after my implant in 07/10. My doctor said there was nothing to worry about. I still have them, but very few and far between. Good luck and welcome aboard.

I agree with Pookie. Did they put you on BP medicine? I got mine in Dec and they took me off the meds this week because of adverse effects.

May just need adjustments

The pacemakers come from the factory with "default" settings and the docs leave them that way after implant. It is very unlikely that the settings aren't the best for you. There's nothing wrong with giving the pacer a couple of weeks to settle down before the first checkup, but some docs for their own convenience just let it go until a 3 month office visit.

I keep hearing the story that you don't need to worry about light headedness or SOB, but there is no basis for this at all. The pacemaker immediately is able to sense activity in your heart and deliver an appropriate pacing signal.

Their story is like being told that the light bulb that is blinking and buzzing just needs to have time to settle down.

Hi! Welcome. Just got back online after couple of months so got loads to do so sorry not in great detail. Just find out if RR on or off. I felt breathless and dizzy and tired with it off, with it on I'm brilliant! Good luck.

It took 3 or 4 adjustments to get it right on mine, just make sure you let your doctor know and another good thing is to write on a pad as what may have caused it when you feel it, getting up, bending over, walking whatever makes you feel it or if it is all the time id call and let them know they will probably want you to come in for an adjustment.
just my two cents worth

You know you're wired when...

You have a $50,000 chest.
