HELP! AV node ablasion & pacer placement.

Hi,I recently had to have an AV node ablasion with a pacemaker implanted and I have some questions.First, how long should the pain last in my shoulder on the side the pacer is? Is it normal to be short of breath & shakey, and is it normal to have pain when you try too lay down? Any answers will be appriciated.Had this done January 31,2011,and I'm very worried.

The shoulder soreness may well

be due to the surgery & be careful that you move your shoulder a little bit. Shoulders are very susceptible to getting "frozen" if not moved. usually the directions are to not to lift the arm on the side of new PM for a certain time (discuss with the Dr) but you can rotate shoulder a bit so doesn't stiffen up. Get your Dr or his nurse to give you info on the shoulder.

I think I'd call the EP's office tomorrow (Monday) AM & tell them about the SOB & shaky feeling. Hopefully it is just because you did too much too fast but best to get it checked out. We all need our Dr & staff's help in getting thru this in the beginning. It is scary but it will get better. Let us know how you are doing please.

Have you been back to EP for the

1st check-up?If so, have they adjusted the PM? What did you have the abalation/PM for? I have chronic Afib & had an ablation/PM in 2000 & actually felt great (no SOB, etc) after put in. It was such an improvement over how I felt before the ablation/PM that altho I had some pain in incision site which remained somewhat uncomfortable for almost a year as the PM pocket healed I felt better. There were many adjustments esp with that 1st one. Am on #2 & doing great now. So what I am saying there is some pain & adjustments but they can be usually fixed with adjustments. Let Dr know if you have not how you feel then get in an see if they can help. Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes. I'm sure you will get other responses that'll help also.

I had the AV node ablation because I has inappropriate sinus tachscardia and meds were not working. Before the surgery I had constant chest pain, a heavy feeling in my left arm that would not go away, and sweaty with little activity. Since surgery that is all gone except the shoulder pain and I think it may be muscle soreness. My heart rate was always 100 or more 24 hrs a day. I did a load of laundry today and got short of breath and very shaky I'm wondering if it happened because its only been a week tomorrow since my surgery. It's very hard to lay down I've had to sleep in a reclined because when I lay down it feels as though my chest is going to rip open.
