Want to power-walk soon

Got my pacemaker on March 17 (luck of The Irish????).....want to get back out power-walking as soon as I can - I’ve used wrist weights (2-1/2 pounds each)....seeing my cardiologist today and asking when I can get out walking again; also, when (or if) I can walk with the wrist weights again...miss the morning power-walking.

Return to Exercise

My electro-cardiologist allowed me to return to stationary cylcling in 2 weeks, running & outdoor cycling in 4 weeks, to swimming in 6 weeks & to weight lifting (at 50% of previous routine & building back up slowly) in 8 weeks. You should be walking again in a week. I'd hold off of the weights at least until you are allowed to lift your arm above your head, which is usually a month. Listen tor your doc & your body. Everyone's situation is different, so what worked for me may not work for you. Follow your doc's advice.

Thanks much for your comments and great advice. Saw my cardiologist this afternoon; the weights have to wait at least a couple of weeks......walking can begin again tomorrow - really great news!
