Exercise Monitors

I have a new St. Jude pacemaker that is monitored wirelessly, does anyone know if there is a sports watch or device that will use the Pacemaker’s wireless signal to monitor how the pacemaker is functioning?

But I use both a Polar and a Garmin HRM without issue so if you are looking for being able to continue to exercise, check with your doc first, but mine said both are fine with my pacemaker. They both are passive devices and only send a radio signal to my watch.

HI, I have a Timex RSS 210 I've used in Cardiac Rehab for years & works great. Depending on your ECG pattern if it's normal most work OK. Now if you slide into Atrial Fib or other irregular heart rate these monitors just won't read right. I'm on my 4th PM, a St Jude, and found the heart monitoring equipment used during my regular stress test would not sync into my HR and had to take the (Rat Poison)
Persantine as they couldn't rely on their HR readings. Normally with my cheapy Timex I get good solid readings from 50 to 130. Anything above my upper PM setting is (forget it) Also, I've been keeping my Atrial-Fib under control with Sotalol, 80mg every 12 hours. donb

donb;

I have used both the Polar and the Garmin and the wireless pace maker seems to interfere with the watch recording. My heart rate on the watch is all over the place. I know that the Pacemaker has to be readjusted to include a heart rate up to 150 so in the mean time I need my heart rate to be below 132 which is now the upper limit of the Pacemaker. knowing that I have a Pacemaker that is wireless may be causing all these issues.

I've never heard of one that would use the system the pm already has. Like you, I've never been able to find one that works with my pm, the pm interferes and it won't give a reading. I've been through every brand Sports Authority and a high end running store sell. I just stop and count my pulse when I get dizzy while working out. If I feel ok, I assume I'm under my upper limit lol

I am an A-fibber with a St Jude Pacer. I am also a 69 yo triathlete.

I use the Sportsline watch with Chest Strap readings and on demand by wrist touch also. It does not interfere with my pacer in any way.

It is guaranteed for life! I am on my third one at no additional cost. Avail at walmart in Fitness section for about $50. Great Watch!

I also use the Garmin X-310 for workouts it has a chest strap and is great! for monitoring the Ticker closely.

Avail online at Amazon for about $300. Great Watch also!

As a fellow A-fibber St Jude Pacer, lets talk and compare ideas

can you get a sports watch that will link in wirelessly and tell you how your pacemaker is going? The answer is no. The wireless communicator you have at home to send information about your pacemaker to your doctor is set on a specific frequency and the communication between that device and your pacemaker cannot be "tapped into" by another device such as a watch.

You know you're wired when...

You have a little piece of high-tech in your chest.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
