How Long off work/Lead Adjustment

Hi folks,

Whilst i appreciate every one of us are individually different I wanted to get your thoughts. I had my ICD fitted 21/5 and I am still not back at work - whilst this is frustrating I appreciate that these things take time. I am still feeling quite a bit of discomfort and am not sleeping to great with a general feeling af constant fatigue....i seriosuly thought and expected this to be the complete opposite. I have also just returned from my first check up and was told that one of my leads has not set in the correct position - I am awaiting the cardiologists call to tell me what the next steps are but if anyone can shed some light i would be really grateful. Like others members, i too am experiencing a sporadic burning sensation and irregular sharp shooting pains around the wound site! Sorry for sounding like a wet flannel but its getting me down a little!
Best
Darren

It takes time

Hi Darren
The more i hear and the more i experience the more i know it just takes time. I had my PM fitted 29/3/11. Suffered as you are doing now. One of my leads was touching on the frenic nerve causing hic-cup like symptoms. They turned it down but this did not work. On 3/6/11 i had the op re-done. The wires were replaced with more durable ones, and also my PM was moved more centrally as it was too near my arm and riding up with any left arm movement.
Now i am feeling fine but again going through the 6 week period of rehabilitation. You will think everything is taking a long time especially as you start to feel better, but don't worry you will get there in the end.
As regards work i suppose it depends what you do. I have a desk job and a good boos. He allowed me to come back to work immediately and go home as soon as i felt tired. Infact he drove me home. I would recommend you do the same as it takes your mind off the PM.
Good luck to you.

You know you're wired when...

You can feel your fingers and toes again.
