Pre-op

Hi all,

Any pre-operation advices (defibrillator implant on Thursday)?

Gals, what kind of bra and clothes should I bring at the hospital?

Thanks!

I usually bring something loose

& comfortable with button down the front so easy to get into post-op for the trip home. If its loose enough & your comfortable with it, maybe skip the bra for the return home trip.

Good luck,

Janet

COMFY

is always good. Buttons down the front a good idea. My arm was in a sling and not a great range of motion,- so go from there. Wide straps for the bra (I wear the right one wide, almost off the shoulder after 61/2 weeks.)
Best of luck, take good care of yourself, and follow orders.

If you are big busted take a comfy older bra, thats got plenty of give. Also take a small pillow to put between you and seat belt for drive home. After first few days I had no problems with bras, or seat belts so hopefully you will be the same.

Best wishes

No bra

I wore a cami under a button down shirt, but that was after I got home. At first I just wore plaid button down shirts because that seemed to work best for me. I didn't wear a bra for a while, but when I finally did, I folded up a hankerchief or a small gauze pad and put it under my bra strap.
Good luck to you, and let us know how you're doing. I've had my ICD for a little over a year now. I call him Thumpalina.

... meaning soft clothes, comfy clothes. It's a good thing I'm working from home : I'll be able to stay in my pyjama all day long if need be.

Jane, an older bra it'll be since I need one for support as much as I need all of you.

Thanks to you all for the infos and I'll keep you posted.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
