Need your action

I am a current full-time MBA student at Said Business School of University of Oxford, UK, and (together with other four fellow students) working on an entrepreneurship project and the subject matter of the project is "application wireless data and power transter on implantable cardiac pacemakers". The so called wireless technology is a new one developed by a subsidiary of University of Oxford called ISIS Innovation Centre and we, as the EP group, had the idea that this technology would be a perfect fit for pacemaker application.

To give a brief description of the idea: if this technology is succesfully implemented in pacemakers, then the batteries of the devices will become wirelessly, safely and easily rechargable eliminating the need for a secondary surgery for the replacement of the battery. We also contemplate that this technology would reduce the size of the battery, and consequently that of the device itself, considerably, thus making the device more comfortable for the patients.

However, before being able to identify a suitable way to channel the integrated technology into the market, we need to carry out a survey among patients. So, could I ask you kindly to take a few minutes to complete a quick survey, a link to which is given below, to make us know better of your attitude towards this new device? Thank you very much in advance.

That's not the point !

Sara .. I didn't for one moment doubt that Said and ISIS are genuine. I just happen to find it rather annoying and rude that someone should i) send a posting asking for help from the members ii) get comments from the members and then iii) ignore those comments and re-post the original request for help.

I think serdargunbay is handling his request rather badly.

Replies to your earlier message ?

serdargunbay .... you sent out an identical request on Feb 18th and received interesting comments/questions
from Electric Frank, donr and shockbox340.

As far as I know you didn't reply to these. Please give your comments as a reply and then I will decide whether to complete your survey,or not.

Apologies

by serdargunbay - 2012-02-22 08:02:12

Please accept my apologies for not being kind enough to reply to the comments promtly. Frankly speaking I didn't expect this much attention immediately and given the highly excessive course work during this time of the term I simply postpone to revisit the blog a few days and when I did revisit, I realised the comments but now that being unfamiliar with the site I did not figure out how to reply specifically....

Apologies a ton anyways, without any excuse...

The survey will be kept open for another week and I'll post the results when I collate them (I'm not sure whether the link provideds to you shows the results untill your response but I'll do it anyways).

Thank you very much for making contribution and apologies time and again.

And, please find below my e-mail adresses below, for those who are interested in the contemplated device more in depth and I'd be happy to provide as much as I can to any requests:

All the best.

Admin is this a spam

trying to get info from members?????

The School is a real one

by SaraTB - 2012-02-22 11:02:51

The Said Business School is a completely legitimate part of Oxford University, and the ISIS Innovation Centre is wholly owned by the University, as a technology transfer business:

So I don't think this is spam. It is logical for students researching the area of pacemaker technology to approach a pacemaker forum for 'real' patient information.

I'll bite - I'm off to try the survey (surveymonkey is an online survey tool used by students all the time)

Apologies accepted

Hi Serdar I look forward to seeing the results of your survey ..and best of luck with the MBA

Ian

Thanks

I am glad to see that I am forgiven... Hope everyone thinks like that...

As for the results, I have received 14 responses so far and need at least 16 more to have some statistical significance... I'll publish the results anyways, irrespective of the number of responses I collect eventually... but, you know, I'd like to present you (and the evaluation commitee here at Said) a meaningful result..

Thank you very much again and all the best.

Serdar.

I took the survey

by admin - 2012-02-25 07:02:16

This is not spam. I have taken the survey and have been communicating with serdargunbay via email about his MBA topic. The survey is short so if you have a free minute or two I encourage you to take it.

Thanks admin

Thanks admin, and all who have already taken the survey... To follow on admin's comment all previous correspondence, I'd like to state that the project, which is the subjectmatter of the survey, is more than a student led one with sole objective of course assesment... It has a very high potential to be pursued by ISIS Innovation to really produce the device and channel it to market... So it is very important for us to obtain real attitude, of the real end users, to the device... Therefore, I'd appreciate so much if you happen to spare only a few minutes to take the short survey... I'd like to give the link for the survey below again:

P.S.: We are also trying to obtain cardiologists point of view of such a technology and I'll disclose the results for it as well, along with your results...

You know you're wired when...

A thirty-day guarantee is not good enough.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
