Im being held together by glue..help!!

Day five of pm...it was implanted to give them more options for drugs with afib...still having afib..even after sotilol...had a flailed ablation and failed drugs.
Little down today...but going togo put my sprarkly flipflops on to remind me to shine through it all ..the good and the bad.
Still trying to de-glue my body!! If only they would have applied the glue pads in the right areas to give me an instant breast lift...but noooooooo! Instead the girls are now starting to become one!
And I soooo need a shower..even the flies seem to be avoiding me: )
wash cloths can only do so much....
one day at a time for each of us..I know that...and keep smiling.

Shower

by ElectricFrank - 2012-05-10 01:05:33

There is no reason you can't shower as long as you keep the incision dry. I taped some plastic wrap over the area and took a show the night after getting the pacer. I also used my hot tub the same way.

Others on the forum have come up with clever ways to handle it.

By the way I took the "don't shower" instructions to mean don't shower the pacemaker. After all they didn't do surgery on the the rest of my body.

glue. I was finding them for days after. Those buggers can really stick & resist any washing off. I agree with you about the lifts but not in the cards. Funniest thing I ever had happen was after my 1st mammogram & didn't remember to take those sticky thingies that they use to identify the nipples & they have a little metal bead on them. What a shock when I came home & found still had them on. Hah!

Keep up your spirits,

Janet

Thank you

Thank you Frank and Janet for your replies...since this is new to me it is nice to have found this site. I have had three years of afib. First came the years of fear with it...it loved to strike in the night as I layed there alone.
Then there was a failed ablation where I awoke in icu..with a rescheduled on with more machines and more specialists ( seems my heart it twisted funny in my chest..and the normal tools don't work) that ablation was a nightmare..a week later this pop feeling in my chest... A week at ku and they could not find where the "I just want to die" pain was coming from...I can tolerate a lot of pain..have had five ruptured discs in my back...this pain was sooo much worse.. I did want to die...it took about a year to slowly go away..and the cardiologist is writing a per on me..she says she knows something happened but not what ...after the ablation she said my heart was a "nightmare and would never try an ablation on it again..which left me trying other drugs..she said the next thing to try was the pacemaker so it would give her the ability to try drugs that drop the rate..but that the pm would keep it high enough.
A lot of the fear is gone...even though since starting the sotilol last week I keep going in and out of afib...the episodes aren't as severe ...
I can still smile and have my humor....
Each of us has burdens in life..for us it appears to be our hearts
My prayer is that I can get back on the lake soon kayaking and live the best possible life I can!
I'm putting my sparky flip flops on once again today to remind myself to shine.....
I think of my mom in bad times..she had a death experience and after was never afraid to die...
She would always say...Pam I'm not afraid of dying..it's the getting there that is killing me!! Lol
Well good news is the first shower was taken yesterday.. The "girls" are no longer iniboob...... And it's time to go "sparkle" for the day!
I am a writer ....working on a book of humorous stories...called Laughing all the way!......and you know what ..I sure got a lot of them with my hospital stay!
Take care and please keep in touch
Pam....and the beat goes on!!!

How are you doing

>Hi Pam, I read your posts. I am the same age as you, have pm since oct.05/12, I have Afib/flutter. I am waiting for the doc to start giving me meds for the Afib. I would like to hear how you are doing. Did you find a med that worked for you? Did you have another ablation? We have similar condition so I was wondering. Only difference is I am male. Shep.

You know you're wired when...

You invested in the Energizer battery company.
