saying hello

HI everyone my name is wvbrat .I am 49 years old,I had a pacemaker put in on june 6th 2012.I am home trying to learn all I can about it,It all happened so fast.heart rate had been at 20 beats per min.just so tired but had no idea.so i will be on here asking some questions and hope it wont be a problem for anyone. thank you all and I hope everyone has a great week and good health

ive been home 5 days,on the forth day i started feeling bad,went for a small walk got alittle dizzy,sweaty,out of breath and very weak. dr just called wants me to come in be back soon and again thanks

Hi wbrat, I am new to the board also, but it is very enlightnening & fun to be with folks who share our experience.

I had my PM 5 weeks ago & am STARTING to feel better. Oh, I felt better right away from the slow heartbeat, fatigue walking across the room, & SOME of the irregular beats. However, I was not warned about the adjustment period. I am not saying that I am not still having adjustment issues because it always there. But, I have adjusted to some of them & I think I'm going to make it.

Keep us informed of your doctor's visit.

Well hello wvbrat! So happy to meet you, :-) You have come to a great place to learn more about your pacemaker. Some of the members here are very knowledgeable about all this heart stuff, some are funny and make you laugh, some are scientific some are just very good friends who are very supportive.

I know you will be busy learning all about your pacemaker, so ask any question that you think we can help you with.

June 6 - you share a great day in history. The Normandy Invasion was but a mere 18 yrs past when you were born. Rusting residue on the beaches still was still recognizable as to what it once was.

Back to the question - do you feel better? Worse? The same?

Sure would be nice to know.

How 'bout a follow-on comment telling us all that as of less than a week post-op.

I came out of the hosp ready to take on the world, I felt so good. MOF, I was looking around for Arnold Schwartzenneger to start taking it on. Two days before, when I entered for the surgery, I would not even have been able to start w/ new born babies!

Others are not quite as lucky. You'll see their questions. Hope you fall into my category!

Well, here I'm a latecomer as I had my 1st PM in 1992 at age 60. I had low HR nights, in the 30s' along with Vaso Vegal attacks. So I got my 1st PM, made a new man out of me, didn't need any support. I just went about tearing the world apart while abusing this body.

Well, 17 years later my PM didn't like the treatment I was giving it & it wanted out, (no part of me). NOW, it was time for answers as I was worried about infection, maybe lead removal & PM removal. Pacemakerclub.com was my answer & I finally realized how fortunate I had been over all the years with my body functioning like never before. I have learned so much from the less fortunate members posting their problems. Remember our membership is only a drop in the bucket considering all the people internationally with pacemakers.

So, as a new member use this forum, ask questions, accept support & give support. The information you can accumulate as a PM patient is priceless, especially when you read about the lack of being able to cope with your PM because your medical care people don't have or take the time to answer your questions!! Nuff Said !! Enjoy your new Titanium friend !!
