Not sure this is where to post

New to this, so needless to say have a lot of questions. But for right now my main one is:  is there anything out there that can be used to cover so that certain signals won’t cause it to hurt my chest. For example, my wife has KINDEL reading book and when she turns that on I have to leave the room. There are also other things, but I figure that if I can get an answer to this it may help on other problems.

Thanks

You would think that the hospitals and/or manufactures would tell you about these sites.

If you are having chest pain, it might be a good idea to call your dr. It's unlikely it's the kindle. Many of us have kindles and they don't cause problems. You don't ever actually turn a kindle off, just put it in sleep mode so it's always on so it shouldn't make a difference if she's reading it or not.

There are almost no home electronics that cause interference. Newer pm's are well shielded and little bothers them. Large magnets are the main thing we have to avoid- being on stage with giant concert speakers, visiting a power plant or an MRI. Smaller magnets are usually not a problem, worst case they put it into the same mode they use to test it. As soon as you step away from the magnet it goes back to regular function with no harm done. Keeping 6" from the device is a good rule of thumb.

Most of the manufacturers have a list of things to be careful of on their website, but it's an overly cautious list. I have been paced for 20 years, do just about everything you'll ever see someone say we shouldn't do, and I've never had a problem. Your mileage may vary, of course. Give yourself time to heal up and feel better, but then go about your life and don't let it keep you from anything you want to do.

When your wife turns on her kindel do you leave the room as a precaution or does it actually bother you? I've used a kindel/been in the room while they're being used with no problems. Hope someone else can be of more assitance.

I'm with Tracey. I've paced for 37 years now and have yet to find anything that has bothered my PM or me.
I didn't try bungee jumping but most everything else I wanted to try, I did.

Your PM is well shielded and not too much can hurt it or you.

I hope you heal quickly and feel better soon. Then you can get back to living.

My very best to you,
Gellia

kindle

Not sure what your issue is but I don"t think it has anything to do with your wifes kindle. I have one sitting in my lap right now and not a problem!
Only thging I have ever had to bother me was while I was working (before I retired) I worked around some really high electrical flux and magnets a lot. Only thing they did was mess with PM signals and as soon as I left area it was back to business as usual!
Need to check with your dr. on this one! Worst case will happen is you will go back to your original state for a VERY SHORT TIME>
I'm with Tracey and Gellia here, not likely anything to do with the kindle!

I love My kindle

I use my Kindle all the time. Sometimes it even sits on my chest and no problem. Actually, I haven't found anything that really bothers me...well lots of things bother but nothing electronic.

iPad

John,

I don't have a kindle, but I noticed others posted it and said they had no problems. I have an iPad, android phone, laptop, and pretty much any other gadget you can think of... and I have never experienced any pain.

It may just be anxiety... fear of it causing a problem. I was nervous at first, but after testing, I realized i was just fine. :)

You trust technology more than your heart.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
